Shore Conference Player of the Week Presented by Surf Taco
Colin Cavanaugh, Red Bank Catholic
Cavanaugh’s Week 6 ranged from clutch to record-breaking as the Caseys went 3-1 against a quartet of quality teams. He hit one of RBC’s biggest shots of the season when he drained a go-ahead three-pointer with 43 seconds left to beat Manalapan, 63-61, which capped a 15-point performance. On Jan. 27, Cavanaugh erupted for a career-high 35 points, including a school-record 11 three-pointers, in an 82-71 win over Ranney.
Monmouth County Player of the Week Presented by Savvy Fit Soaps
Alex Garguilo, Raritan
Garguilo is the only player on this year’s Raritan team that logged meaningful minutes on last year’s 21-win team that finished No. 4 in the Shore Conference and in Week 6, he had his best individual moment as a Rocket. Facing Long Branch, Garguilo went off for 42 points – the most in a single game by a Shore Conference player this season – to land the Rockets a 76-57 win over the Green Wave. Garguilo shot 15-for-26 from the field, including 10 three-pointers, while also contributing five assists and six steals.
Ocean County Player of the Week Presented by AOSMI (formerly Ocean County Sports Medicine)
Miles Chevalier, Central
It was a milestone Week 6 for Miles, who not only averaged 19 points in three Central wins, but also reached the 1,000-point mark for his career at Central. The senior wing scored his 1,000th point in a home win over Brick and in that game, he finished with 28 points and six steals.
