Thrive Fan Vote Week 6 Shore Conference Player of the Week

Colin Cavanaugh, Red Bank Catholic

During the final full week of January, Cavanaugh’s ranged from clutch to record-breaking as the Caseys went 3-1 against a quartet of quality teams.

The senior guard and third-year starter hit one of RBC’s biggest shots of the season when he drained a go-ahead three-pointer with 43 seconds left to beat Manalapan, 63-61, which capped a 15-point performance.

On Jan. 27, playing on a netural court at Red Bank Regional, Cavanaugh erupted for a career-high 35 points, including a school-record 11 three-pointers, in an 82-71 win over Ranney. RBC entered the fourth quarter trailing by one and Cavanaugh led the surge over the final eight minutes with 14 of his 35 in the fourth.

Cavanaugh also scored 14 points and handed out four assists in a Jan. 25 win over Rumson-Fair Haven -- a result that kept the Caseys alive, for the moment, in the Class B North race and ultimately cost the rival Bulldogs the division title.

Cavanaugh won the Week 6 award with 31 percent of the vote to beat out runner-up Alex Garguilo of Raritan, who raked in 24.5 percent. Central's Miles Chevalier came in third with 13 percent.

As the fan's choice for Player of the Week, Cavanaugh will receive a free recovery session courtesy of Thrive.
