No. 16 Colts Neck 8, No. 2 CBA 5
Casey Gardiner hit a tie-breaking solo home run in the top of the fifth inning, then added a three-run jack in the top of the seventh that proved to be the difference in a Cougars win over the Colts.
The win not only gives Colts Neck a regular-season sweep of CBA but also keeps the Cougars in the running for a share of the Class A North championship. Colts Neck can not win the title outright, but could clinch a co-title with a win over Marlboro on Thursday coupled with a win by CBA over Middletown South that same day.
Gardiner crushed a solo home run to lead off the top of the fifth and give Colts Neck a 2-1 lead. Dan Annunziata added an RBI single inside the third-base bag later in the inning for a 3-1 lead and Colts Neck extended its edge to 5-1 in the sixth on a wild pitch and a pop-up by Tom Diffley that dropped in shallow rightfield for an RBI single.
Gardiner hit a towering fly ball in the seventh inning that dropped beyond the leftfield fence for a three-run homer and an 8-1 Colts Neck lead. Those runs proved crucial when CBA plated four runs in the bottom of the seventh and brought the tying run to the plate in the form of catcher and home run leader Danny Tsimbinos. Diffley came on to record the final two outs, including a groundout by Tsimbinos to end the game.

No. 3 Middletown South 5, Freehold Twp. 2 (8 Innings)
Lou D'Alessio delivered a tie-breaking two-run triple with one out in the top of the eighth inning and the Eagles pulled out a win over the Patriots to clinch no worse than a share of the Class A North championship.
Owen Murphy started the rally with a pinch-hit single and Mike Frandsen returned to the basepaths to run for Murphy. Sophomore Jack Concodia followed with another one-out single and D'Alessio crushed an opposite-field triple to chase home both runners. Brevin Bezick tacked on an insurance run with a sacrifice fly.
Jacob Wenzel pitched five innings of middle relief to earn the win and Dan Daley closed out his third save of the season by striking out the side after a leadoff double by Lex Nelsen.
Middletown South can win the Class A North championship outright by beating CBA at home on Thursday. First, the Eagles will play at CBA Wednesday in the Monmouth County Tournament semifinals.

No. 9 Matawan 4, Red Bank 0
Mark Kovach pitched five no-hit innings with 11 strikeouts and Andrew Gendi followed with two scoreless to close out a one-hit win over the Bucs that clinches the Huskies their first outright Shore Conference division title since 1972.
