Raritan 5, Rumson-Fair Haven 4

Winning pitcher Phil Kramer settled in after a rough first inning, drove in Raritan's first run of the game in the fourth inning, then drove in the winning run in the bottom of the fifth as the Rockets came back from an early four-run deficit to beat the Bulldogs and snap a five-game losing streak.

Kramer's RBI single in the fourth cut Rumson's lead to 4-1 and Raritan did the rest of its scoring in the fifth. Jobby Dekis drew a bases-loaded walk to cut the deficit to 4-2 and John Molnar followed with a game-tying two-run single. That set the stage for Kramer's second RBI single of the game, with the second of the two pushing Raritan into the lead, 5-4.

Rumson put up three runs on Kramer in the top of the first inning, with Luke Gallegher knocking in the first run with an RBI single and Alex Calabretta following with a two-run single -- both with two out in the inning. After the three-run first, Kramer allowed only two baserunners the rest of the way -- one on an error that came around to score in the second inning and the other on a bunt single by Aaron Del Tin in the sixth.

Shore 14, No. 2 Red Bank Catholic 13

Andrew Barham delivered a game-winning, two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning and the Blue Devils pulled out a wild, back-and-forth win over the Caseys to beat RBC in West Long Branch for the third consecutive season.

Trailing, 13-11, starting the bottom of the seventh, Shore started its rally with a one-out single by Joe Santi, who was erased on a fielder's choice groundout by Cole Stefanelli for the second out of the inning.

Shore was down to its last strike when RBC pitcher Glen Popes jumped in front of Shore catcher and cleanup hitter E.J. Stefanelli, 0-2. Stefanelli fought his way to a 2-2 count and smacked a single through the middle to extend the inning and bring the winning run to the plate.

RBC then aided the Shore comeback by committing infield errors on consecutive plays that could have ended the game, with a run scoring on the second error and leaving the bases loaded for Barham. The sophomore worked the count in his favor, 3-1, and laced a line drive into leftfield to Stefanelli with the tying run and C.J. Sears with the winning run.

Shore took a 10-7 lead into the sixth inning, at which point Red Bank Catholic erupted for six runs in the top of the sixth inning to surge in front, 13-10. Matt Brunner roped an RBI triple to cut RBC's deficit to 10-8 and after a walk placed runners on the corners, Barham came on to pitch. Dylan Passo plated Brunner with a fielder's choice groundout to make it 10-9 and Barham notched a strikeout to move within one out of escaping the inning with the lead.

Charlie Stumberger extended the RBC rally with a single and Al Delia followed with an RBI triple that plated two runs and gave the Caseys an 11-10 lead. A.J. Sciametti followed with an RBI double and Jake Frankel piled on with an RBI single to push the Caseys lead to 13-10.

Shore drew a run closer in the bottom of the sixth when C.J. Sears led off with a double and scored on an RBI single by Josh Moeller with none out. Popes composed himself and retired the next three Shore hitters to preserve the 13-11 RBC lead, but Shore's one run set up the dramatic finish, especially after Barham set down the heart of the RBC order -- Brunner, Griggs and Passo -- in order in the top of the seventh inning.

Shore took its first lead of the game by scoring five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to go ahead, 9-6. Cole Stefanelli laced a two-run doubled to tie the game, 6-6, followed by an RBI double by Sears that gave Shore a 7-6 lead. Moeller then chased home two runs with a single to go up 9-6. Sciametta got one run back with an RBI double in the top of the fifth, but Cole Stefanelli countered with an RBI single for a 10-7 lead and his third RBI of the game

Griggs staked RBC to a 2-0 lead with a two-run homer in the top of the first inning and Brunner made it 3-0 with an RBI single in the top of the second. Sears and Barham struck back with an RBI single apiece in the bottom of the second to pull Shore within a run at 3-2, but Passo belted a two-run homer in the third, followed by an RBI single by Sciametta later in the inning to boost the Caseys lead to 6-2.

Sacrifice flies by E.J. Stefanelli and Moeller in the bottom of the third inning cut the RBC lead to 6-4 and set the stage for Shore's big fourth inning that catapulted the Blue Devils into the lead.

Class B North

No. 3 Matawan 7, Manasquan 1

Brandon Falco pitched five no-hit innings to run his streak of no-hit frames to nine as the Huskies downed the Warriors for their ninth straight win to open the season.

Andrew Gendi carried the combined no-hit bid into the seventh inning, when he allowed a base-runner to reach on a dropped third strike with one out, followed by a strikeout that would have secured the no-hitter had Matawan completed the strikeout one batter earlier.

Connor Voelkson then broke up the no-hitter and the shutout with a two-out RBI double, to which Gendi responded by inducing a game-ending groundout.

Gendi drove in the first run of the game with an RBI single in the bottom of the first and capped Matawan's scored with an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth. Sean Hart also doubled home a run in the fifth inning and Bryan McCartin singled home a pair to put Matawan up, 4-0, in the bottom of the fourth.
