Brevin Bezick helped his cause on the mound by going 3-for-3 with two doubles and the Eagles coasted to a win over the Cougars.

Bezick entered the game with having pitched six hitless innings with no earned runs -- streaks that Colts Neck ended with a leadoff single by Casey Gardiner and an RBI double by Tom Diffley.

Middletown South's lineup came to life in the bottom of the fourth, starting with a walk by Lou D'Alessio and a single by Bezick to set runners up on the corners. Giussepe Massagli tied the game with an RBI single and Vinny Alcure followed with a groundball that scored the second Middletown South run on an error.

D'Alessio singled home two runs to make it 4-1 in the fifth and Bezick followed with a two-run double to break the game open.

Class A Central

Monmouth 4, Raritan 2

Collin Denton opened up the scoring with a two-run double in the bottom of the third and pitched into the seventh inning to out-duel his counterpart Phil Kramer and lead the Falcons to a win over the Rockets.

Kramer was coming off a no-hitter in his first start of the season last week vs. Holmdel and did not allow his first hit Wednesday until No. 9 hitter Dominic Migliaccio doubled with two out in the bottom of the third. An error then extended the inning for Denton, who roped another double to score Migliaccio and Will Theobald.

Raritan got a run back in the top of the fourth when Jimmy Nichols singled and scored on an error, to which Monmouth responded with two more in the fifth -- one on an error and another on an RBI single by Brandon Geiger.

Denton retired the first batter of the seventh and was lifted due to reaching his single-game pitch limit. Alejandro Ocelotl walked the only batter he faced before turning the ball over to Vaughn Bociulis, who induced a pair of fly outs to end the game.

St. John Vianney 7, Red Bank 4

Mike McCormack hit a bases-clearing triple during a six-run sixth inning that powered the Lancers to a come-from-behind win over the Bucs.

St. John Vianney starter Nick Mirto led the game off with a double and scored on a passed ball to open the scoring, but Red Bank scored four unanswered runs against Mirto -- only one of which was earned.

Will Marziarz tied the game with an RBI single in the bottom of the first and the Bucs scored two on a two-out dropped fly ball in the second. Tommy Ruth made it 4-1 with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth.

St. John Vianney drew within 4-2 on a bases-loaded wild pitch and cut it to 4-3 on an RBI infield single by Kevin DiPede. McCormack then swatted his three-run triple and scored on a groundout by Owen Murtha to cap the six-run rally.

No. 7 Point Boro 4, Barnegat 1

Point Boro scored four times in the fifth inning and starter Chase Connelly retired 20 straight batters after allowing a run in the first inning as the Panthers won their seventh straight by beating the Bengals.

Point Boro took advantage of four walks, two hit-by-pitches, a passed ball and an error in the bottom of the fifth inning alone. With one out in the inning, John Ward, Wyatt Dewysockie and James Lockwood walked in succession and Brian Simoes picked up an RBI when he was hit by a pitch to force home the tying run.

Freshman Jake Clayton gave Point Boro a 2-1 lead with a sacrifice fly to score courtesy runner James Bradley. The third run of the inning scored on a passed ball and the fourth came as the result of a two-out error.

Connelly surrendered walked Barnegat starting pitcher Tyler Carll to lead off the game and Jaihan Dominguez singled with one out to move Carll to third base. Freshman Nick Malinowski followed with a sacrifice fly to score Dominguez -- the first of the 20 straight batters Connelly set down to close out his start.
