Senior Brendan Roche and Will Jagerburger combined on a no-hitter and the Eagles (4-2, 4-1) exploded for 16 runs in the first inning and 21 hits total in a win over the Green Wave (0-5, 0-5).

Roche struck out two in three scoreless innings and Jagerburger fanned three and walked one in two frames.

Senior Steven Boguszewski and junior Joe Bartos led the offense, with Boguszewski going 4-for-6 with a double, three runs and two RBI and Bartos finishing 4-for-5 with a double a three RBI.

No. 2 Howell 4, Marlboro 2

Senior Nick Gallo's ground ball in the top of the fourth resulted in a huge, two-out error by Marlboro, as well as the go-ahead runs to score in the Rebels' fifth straight win to open the season.

After the first three Howell runs scored on errors, Rebels sophomore Joe Zito tacked on an insurance run with an RBI double in the top of the seventh.

Senior Julian Buchman hit a game-tying RBI double for Marlboro in the bottom of the third and the Mustangs added a second run on an error.

No. 7 Red Bank Catholic 15, St. Rose 0 (5 Innings)

Sophomore Declan Leary pitched four scoreless innings, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out eight and the Caseys (3-2, 3-2) gave him plenty of support in a win over the Purple Roses (0-5, 0-4).

Junior Shane Andrus tripled home a pair of runs, senior Jack Meyers went 2-for-2 with a double, senior Nico Gonzalez finished 2-for-2 off the bench and senior Alex Stanyek went 2-for-3 to lead the offense.

 

No. 1 Rumson-Fair Haven 13, Raritan 0 (5 Innings)

Sophomore Aaron Del Tin and senior Liam Murphy each homered and senior right-hander Charlie Jones and Del Tin combined on a five-inning no-hitter as the Bulldogs (5-0, 4-0) hammered the Rockets (0-4, 0-4) to remain unbeaten.

Del Tin cracked a three-run home run in a six-run first inning and Martin added a grand slam to make it 10-0 in the second.

Junior Owen Kenney opened the scoring with an RBI triple and junior Reece Moroney and senior Brian Doherty each followed with RBI singles to make the score 3-0 and set up Del Tin's first career home run.

Senior Charlie Tallman also knocked in a run with an RBI double in the second and scored on a wild pitch.

Jones struck out three and walked one in two scoreless innings and Del Tin followed with six strikeouts and a walk in his three scoreless innings of work.

 

 

Class A South

Toms River North 5, No. 4 Central 2

Junior Nate Obeng gave up a pair of runs in the top of the first inning and shut out the Golden Eagles the rest of the way to help the Mariners sweep the regular-season series.

Junior A.J. Chesney hit a single that led to an error in the outfield, allowing two runs to come around and tie the game in the bottom of the second. Chesney later hit a ground that was played into an error during a two-run third inning.

Junior Ty Kazanowsky added an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth for Toms River North.

Central jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI double by senior Cam Leiter, followed by an RBI single by senior Anthony Musso.

The Cougars scored the tiebreaking runs in the top of the sixth on a single passed ball and junior right-hander Tyler Spencer closed out a complete-game win over the Warriors after a rocky start to the outing.

Senior Jack Cosgrove tripled in two runs and scored on a sacrifice fly by junior Jack O'Shea to spearhead a three-run first inning for Manasquan.

Colts Neck knocked two runs off the deficit in the top of the third and tied the game on an error in the top of the fourth. Senior Christian Rice drove in the first Colts Neck run with an RBI triple and senior Brad Salamone followed with an RBI single.

Senior Devon Chandra hit a game-tying RBI triple in the bottom of the sixth, which proved to be crucial when the game between the two local, Class B North rivals was called due to darkness before the seventh inning was completed.

St. John Vianney erased an 11-6 deficit after Matawan scored seven in the top of the fifth. Seniors Dylan Galamb and Brady Oswick had RBI hits during a three-run Vianney rally in the bottom of the fifth.

Ranney run up 35 runs in the first inning in an overwhelming win over the Blue Bishops. Duke commit A.J. Gracia went 5-for-5 with eight RBI while Delaware commit Charlie Chropuvka went 4-for-4 with seven driven in. Each also hit one of five Ranney home runs.

Junior Enrique Beltra also went 7-for-7 with a homer and seven RBI for Ranney.
