With our foray into ice hockey coverage comes another feature very familiar to Shore Sports Network readers: The SSN Player of the Week vote.

There were some great individual performances in Week 2 of the season and now it’s time to get your vote in for who had the top performance in the conference to choose the Shore Sports Network Ice Hockey Player of the Week. The winner will be announced on Wednesday right here on ShoreSportsNetwork.com. Voting will end Tuesday at midnight.

Shore Sports Network Player of the Week nominees for Week 2 (listed in alphabetical order)

Luc Barnett, Jr., Fwd., St. John Vianney

Barnett had two goals and one assist in St. John Vianney’s two games. He scored once in a 3-3 tie with Marlboro and had a goal and an assist when the Lancers’ topped Monroe, 7-1.

 

Christian Chouha, Fr., Fwd., CBA

Chouha scored a goal in all three of the Colts’ games during the week, finding the back of the net in wins over St. Augustine and Gloucester Catholic and scoring a first-period goal in a 3-3 tie with Don Bosco Prep. The frosh has goals in four of CBA’s five games and points in every game thus far.

 

Mark Anthony Competello, Jr., Fwd., Central

Competello tallied five goals and one assist in two games as the Golden Eagles improved to 5-0 on the season. He scored twice in a 3-0 win over Toms River East and added three goals and one assist in a 10-0 win over Lacey.

 

Andrew Croddick, Fr., Fwd., Rumson-Fair Haven

Croddick scored his first career varsity goal and added an assist when Rumson made its season debut in a 2-2 tie with Manasquan.

 

Anthony DeFalco, Sr., Fwd., Toms River North

DeFalco scored twice and added an assist to help the Mariners to a 4-2 victory over Brick in the team’s only game of the week.

 

Mike Farinacci, Sr., Fwd., Manasquan

Farinacci scored the game-tying goal with 28 seconds left in regulation as Manasquan rallied from a two-goal deficit by scoring twice in the final five minutes to forge a 2-2 tie with Rumson-Fair Haven.

 

Dmitri Kapranov, Jr., Goalie, Marlboro

Kapranov was outstanding in the Mustangs’ only game of the week, making 45 saves to help Marlboro skate to a 3-3 tie with unbeaten St. John Vianney.

 

Jake Verdon, So., Def., Toms River East

Verdon tallied three goals and four assists in two games as the Raiders went 2-1 to improve to 3-2 on the season. He had a goal and four assists in a 10-0 win over Lacey and then scored twice in a 4-1 victory over Freehold Township.
