Every week this season, Shore Conference ice hockey fans will have their chance to vote for the Shore Sports Network Ice Hockey Player of the Week on our website.

The winner of the Week 5 Player of the Week poll is Toms River East/South sophomore forward Ryan Fortunato, who totaled three goals and one assist in two games as the Raiders split a pair of games with Ocean Township.

Fortunato scored twice to lead the co-op to a 4-3 victory in the first meeting of the week. Ocean won game two, 7-3, but Fortunato was on the score sheet again with a goal and an assist.

Unfortunately, the team’s season has come to an end because COVID-19 exposure has forced them to shut down for two weeks, and with just 11 days left in the season, the remainder of their games had to be canceled. Fortunato finished the year with eight goals and three assists and the Raiders concluded the season with a 6-5 record.

It was a fairly even poll throughout the voting period but Fortunato won over Catholic’s Jack Bilancione and Manasquan/Point Beach’s Braden Ryan with 26.13 percent of the votes.
