Every week this season, Shore Conference ice hockey fans will have their chance to vote for the Shore Sports Network Ice Hockey Player of the Week on our website.

The winner of the Week 6 Player of the Week poll is Southern Regional junior goalie Trey Mattern, who hit a career milestone and won three games during the week.

In Southern's 4-1 victory over Freehold, Mattern made 32 saves to reach 1,000 career saves. He then stopped all 32 shots he faced in a 1-0 shutout victory over St. Rose. He closed out his week by making 29 saves in a 5-4 win over Jackson Liberty.

For the season, Mattern finished second in the Shore with a .934 save percentage to go along with 281 saves and a 2.50 goals-against average as the Rams went 8-5 and finished third in the Central Division.

The Player of the Week poll came down to just a handful of votes as Mattern won by a scant .09 percent of the votes over Ocean's Alex Haar.
