Surf Taco Girls Soccer Week 2 Team of the Week: Marlboro

Marlboro started the season unranked in the Shore 16, but has has surged up to No. 8 in the season's first two weeks. The Mustangs' hot start earned them the Week 2 Surf Taco Girls Soccer Team of the Week award, which comes with a $250 Gift Card from Surf Taco.

The Mustangs went 2-0 last week with both wins coming in Class A North divisional play. First, they defeated St. John Vianney, which was ranked No. 10 at the time, 2-1 in overtime. Sophomore Isabella Huttner scored the golden goal and junior Brooke Gordon had both assists in the game.

Marlboro then defeated Middletown North on Thursday, September 14th, 3-2. Gordon scored two goals and sophomore Samantha Arntz had two assists in the game. Freshman goalkeeper has been an important part to Marlboro’s early success and was nominated for Player of the Week this week for her performances in last week's games.
