No. 11 Manalapan 3, No. 1 CBA 1

Joe Dionisio hit a pinch-hit RBI double off Wake Forest commit Chris Levonas in the top of the fifth and the Braves scratched across a run each in the sixth and seventh innings against the CBA bullpen to pull out a Class A North road win.

Manalapan catcher Robert Cruz drew a one-out walk against Levonas and gave way to courtesy runner Nick Marcello. Dionisio then came off the bench as a pinch-hitter, fell behind 0-2, then roped a line drive that skipped to the fence in right-centerfield, chasing Marcello home all the way from first.

Levonas struck out the next batter and turned the ball over the Bobby Johnson, who retired the first batter he faced to end the inning.

CBA struck back for the tying run in the bottom of the fifth inning on a two-out passed ball with the bases loaded, which scored Dylan Iwanyk. Iwanyk started the rally with a two-out single, followed by a walk by Colin Hoverter and a single by Jaxon Sevilla that loaded the bases.

After the passed ball, Manalapan starter Kevin Rusinak struck out the next batter to keep the score tied, 1-1.

The Braves mounted a response in the top of the sixth -- which also started with two out. Erik Johnson was hit by a pitch, followed by double down the leftfield line by Cristian Ptasienski. A walk to Varun Gabbita loaded the bases and after he let a pitch get by him in a crucial spot in the bottom of the fifth, Cruz worked a bases-loaded walk to drive home the go-ahead run.

Johnson gave Manalapan insurance in the top of the seventh with an RBI single to score Chris Silva, who slammed a one-out double to deep left-centerfield to kick off the third Manalapan rally of the game.

After Dylan Reynholds beat out an infield single leading off the top of the sixth, Rusinak passed the ball to fellow senior right-hander Dylan Shaffer, who retired each of the six batters he faced to earn the save.

No. 14 Wall 7, Shore 6

Jake Howlett hit a go-ahead three-run double in the top of the seventh inning as the Crimson Knights exploded for five runs -- all with two out -- in their final at-bat to deny the Blue Devils their first win of the season.

Triur Brown led off the top of the seventh with a single, but Shore spun a double-play to move within one out of closing out its first win of the season and a four run cushion with which to work. Davis Harr singled between a walk and a hit-by-pitch and Shore could not convert a ground ball by Jon Cofone into the final out, allowing the third Wall run to score to make it 6-3.

T.J. Legere followed with an RBI single to pull the Crimson Knights within 6-4 and bring Howlett -- a Shore Sports Network All-Shore First Team catcher as a junior in 2023 -- to the plate with a chance to give Wall the lead with an extra-base hit. Howlett did just that by drilling a double to center that cleared the bases and put Wall on top, 7-6.

No. 8 Jackson Memorial 5, Brick 0 (6 Innings)

Jovani Hallihan pitched a six-inning no-hitter and the Jaguars blanked the Green Dragons in a game that was called due to lightning with one out left to go. Jackson Memorial lead, 7-0, with two out in the bottom of the seventh when the game was called, which means the fina score reverts back to the score at the end of the last completed inning.

Hallihan would not have been able to finish off his no-hit bid because he was at 112 pitches after recording a strikeout for the second out of the seventh -- which would have been his 12th strikeout of the game.

Julian Caruso gave Jackson Memorial some breathing room with a two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning. One inning earlier, Tyler Huzzy knocked in a run with an RBI single.

No. 6 Toms River East 6, Central 0

Senior left-hander Jack Mika pitched a no-hitter with one walk and 10 strikeouts as the Raiders rolled past the Golden Eagles for their seventh straight win to open the season.

Mika took a perfect game into the sixth inning and retired the first two batters of the frame before walking No. 9 hitter Mason Lisewski on five pitches to end the bid for perfection. The no-hitter, however, was still on and Mika bounced back to retire the next batter, then leaned on his defense to set down the first two batters of the seventh -- the first on a pop-up and the second on come-backer to the mound.

Mika did not strike out a batter in the sixth either, but for the final out, he reached back for his 10th punchout of the game to finish off his memorable night.

Toms River East provided Mika with an early lead thanks to four runs in the bottom of the first. Gavin Toth, Joey DiMeo and Adrian Aleman accounted for all Toms River East's hits in the game and each drove in a run with an RBI single during the first-inning rally. DiMeo also added an RBI single in the sixth.

Matt Koenig cracked a solo home run to break a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the second inning and right-handers Austin Griffth and R.T. Runge made it stand as the winning run in a Warriors win over the Bucs.

Each starter -- Griffth and Red Bank senior Nick Gandolfo -- allowed an unearned run in the first inning before Koenig's swing gave Manasquan the lead for good. Runge took over with one out in the top of the sixth inning and struck out five of the seven hitters he faced.
