Ocean senior left-hander Ryan Lillie became the latest member of the stellar Class of 2014 to make a baseball commitment to a Division I program when he verbally committed to the University of Rhode Island on Wednesday, according to head coach Cip Apicelli.

Lillie went 4-1 with a 2.29 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 49 innings for the Spartans last season.

Lillie is the latest Division I recruit in a 2014 Shore Conference recruiting class that includes Colts Neck right-hander Gianni Magliaro (Rutgers); Jackson Liberty pitcher/second baseman James Sofield (NJIT); Central pitcher Andrew DiPiazza (Alabama); Toms River South outfielder Russell Messler (Rutgers); St. John Vianney outfielder Evan Pietronico (NJIT) and his teammates, catcher Anthony Santoro (Rutgers) and pitcher Justin Chin (NJIT); Rumson-Fair Haven pitcher Shane McCarthy (Seton Hall); Manchester pitcher/infielder/outfielder Devin Tomei (Campbell); Christian Brothers Academy outfielders Ryan Ramiz (Seton Hall), Will Morgan (Old Dominion) and Pete Papcun (Monmouth University); Red Bank Catholic catcher Mike Alescio (Seton Hall); Jackson Liberty pitcher Dan Serreino (Seton Hall); Wall pitcher Tyler Swiggart (George Washington); Shore Regional pitcher/outfielder Matt Cosentino (George Washington); and RBC pitcher/shortstop Al Molina (Coastal Carolina).
