Every week this season, Shore Sports Network will be recognizing the top Shore Conference boys lacrosse players of the week and putting all the nominees up for a vote to determine who the fans believe should bring home the Player of the Week award.

The Week 4 SSN Boys Lacrosse Player of the Week is Barnegat junior midfielder Robert Sawicki, who totaled seven points in two games to help the Bengals reach the Shore Conference Tournament.

Barnegat defeated Long Branch on April 29 to run its record to 7-4 and Sawicki was one of several multi-point producers with a pair of goals that afternoon. It was against Class B South rival Jackson Liberty where the junior middie made his most significant impact, scoring a game-high three goals and adding two assists for a team-leading five points to help steer the Bengals to an 8-6 victory.

After playing sparingly as a sophomore, Sawicki has emerged as a steady scoring option for Barnegat with 25 goals plus nine assists for 34 points through 14 games. He has nine multi-point games to his credit, including a career-high six goals and one assist during a win over Toms River North back on April 8.

Barnegat is currently 9-5 and will look to advance in the Shore Conference Tournament when it hosts Brick Memorial in a preliminary-round game on Monday night. Barnegat is also trying to lock down an NJSIAA Tournament berth before Saturday's cutoff. The top 16 teams in each section based on the LaxNumbers rankings qualify and Barnegat is currently 14th in the South Group 2 section.

The Barnegat fans and lacrosse supporters made their presence felt this week as Sawicki secured over 63 percent of all votes cast.
