Each week during the remainder of the Shore Conference girls basketball season, Shore Sports Network will present multiple weekly awards for Player of the Week and give the fans the opportunity to vote for the overall player of the week.

Below are the Players of the Week in each of the eight Shore Conference divisions, plus two wild cards. Read about their performances during the stretch of games from Jan. 22 through Jan. 28 and vote for the players who stood out as the Thrive Shore Conference Player of the Week.

Vote once per hour until the poll closes at 10 a.m. on Friday. The winner will be posted on Thursday and will receive a free recovery session courtesy of Thrive Spine and Sports Rehab.

Week 6

 

Class A North Player of the Week

Laila Hagan, Manalapan

Hagan continued to lead Manalapan last week, averaging 12 points a game. Hagan scored a game-high 18 points against Barnegat and hit the game winning 3-pointer at the buzzer. She followed that with 11 points against Long Branch.

Class A North Honorable Mention: Sophie Tonino, Freehold Township; Nina Emnace, Trinity Hall; Payton Smith, Howell

 

Class A Central Player of the Week

Lizbeth Villa-Hernandez, Asbury Park

Villa-Hernandez scored double-digits for the first time this season in back-to-back games. She had a team-high and career-high 16 points against Jackson Liberty and followed that by scoring 13 out of the teams 15 points against Keansburg.

Class A Central Honorable Mention: Shannon Kenny, Henry Hudson; Danika Borza, Keyport; Princess Graves, Keansburg; Lindsay Rivera, Keansburg; Erim Frauenheim, Point Beach; Lauryn Case, Point Beach

 

Class A Coastal Player of the Week

Taylor Sofilkanich, St. John Vianney

Sofilkanich posted two double-doubles last week, one of them against Ewing who is ranked top ten in New Jersey. During the week she averaged 14.5 points and 8 rebounds a game. Against Ewing she scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Sofilkanich followed that with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 blocks against Montclair Immaculate, who is ranked in the top five in New Jersey.

Class A Coastal Honorable Mention: Leilani Andrews, Long Branch; Alayah Vincent, Long Branch; Sabrina Calcagno, Matawan; Christina Sikara, Freehold Boro; Allison Cannon, Holmdel; Michelle Steele, Holmdel; Daniella Matus, St. John Vianney

 

Class A South Player of the Week

Chelsea Lavezzo, Jackson Memorial

Lavezzo has settled into her role for the Lady Jaguars, scoring double-digits in 4 out of the last 5 games they have played. Last week she averaged 12.5 points and 4 rebounds a game. She also performed on the defensive side of the floor, having 5 steals in two games to help Jackson Memorial end the week on a six game winning streak.
Class A South Honorable Mention: Meaghan Weatherstone, Toms River South; Megan Sias, Toms River North; Cara Sarluca, Toms River North; Sydney Murphy, Toms River East; Lexi Caruso, Brick Memorial; Cali Brown, Jackson Memorial; Brielle Romano, Southern Regional; Skylar Soltis, Southern Regional

 

Class B North Player of the Week

Katie Liggio, Red Bank Catholic

Liggio had a strong week from behind the arc, knocking down seven 3-pointers in two games. Against No. 9 Rumson, Liggio knocked down four 3-pointers and scored a career-high 18 points in the victory. She followed that with three 3-pointers and 9 points against the No. 2 team in the country, Long Island Lutheran (NY).

Class B North Honorable Mention: Caitlin Whyte, Middletown South; Raquel Guidetti, Rumson-Fair Haven; Synai Blychanton, Red Bank Regional; Caroline Polloway, Red Bank Regional; Addy Nyemchek, Red Bank Catholic; 

 

Class B Central Player of the Week

Sofia Chebookjian, Ocean Township

Chebookjian had one of her best games of the season, posting a double-double against rival Shore Regional to help Ocean earn the victory. She finished with a season-high 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.

Class B Central Honorable Mention: Sophia Porter, Jackson Liberty; Sarah Franks, Donovan Catholic; Mia Troese, Monmouth Regional; Conley Smolokoff, Shore Regional; Eli Clark, Ocean

 

Class B Coastal Player of the Week

Jada Lynch, St. Rose 

Lynch has helped St. Rose climb up the rankings last week into the top five. Last week against three teams in the top ten she averaged 17.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4 assists a game. She also shot 20 out of 25 from the foul-line during the week.

Class B Coastal Honorable Mention: Katherine Henn, Point Boro; Christa Ramos, Neptune; Haley Poser, Ranney; Marisa Amite, Wall; Hope Masonius, Manasquan; Katie Collins; 

 

Class B South Player of the Week

Emma Thornton, Barnegat

Thornton continued her double-double streak that dates back to last season. She averaged 24.6 points and 17 rebounds a game last week and reached the 1,000 point milestone in her junior season.
Class B South Honorable Mention: Emma Christensen, Central Regional; Madalynn Dougherty, Brick Twp; Reece Paget, Lacey; Devyn Quigley, Manchester; Riley Fitzpatrick, Barnegat

 

Wildcards

Raquel Guidetti, Rumson 

Guidetti continues to cause problems for opposing defenses, extending her streak of scoring double-digits to ten straight games. Last week she averaged 18 points and 4.3 rebounds a game and scored a season-high 23 points in a division win over Middletown North.

 

Lexi Caruso, Brick Memorial

After winning a sectional title in soccer, Caruso is having a breakout season on the basketball court. Last week she averaged 8.5 points and 4 steals a game. She has helped the Mustangs qualify for the SCT with a victory over Toms River South where she scored 13 points and had 4 steals.
