Lady Lancers Retain #1 Spot In SSN Top 10

There were a couple of Top 10 matchups in the first week of the season with St. Rose and Manasquan splitting a pair of games and Rumson-Fair Haven sweeping a pair from Red Bank.  Not much in the way of change in this week’s rankings done in cooperation with a group of head coaches.

1. St. John Vianney (0-0) Preseason Rank:  1      

Lady Lancers were among several teams who did not take the court because of Covid-19 issues.  They jump right into the schedule with a home-and-home matchup with Rumson on Wednesday and Thursday,

2. Red Bank Catholic (2-0) Preseason Rank:  2    

Caseys scored 77 and 70 points in easy victories over Shore behind Ally Carman and Justine Pissott.  This week it’s a home-and-home with Shore on Wednesday and Thursday.

 3. Manchester (2-0) Preseason Rank : 4

Hawks behind Destiny Adams rolled to a pair of wins over Jackson Liberty by an average of 23 points per game.  Pinelands and Toms River North on the schedule for this week.

4. Rose (1-1)     Preseason Rank:  3

Purple Roses split two games with Manasquan…winning on the road but losing at home.  Abby Antognoli was brilliant with 56 points in the two games.  Plays Ocean Township on Wednesday and Thursday.

 5. Manasquan (1-1)   Preseason Rank:  5

See above…Not much to choose from in the two games with St. Rose as both teams lived up to their advance billing.  Mary Elizabeth Donnelly poured-in 41 points for the Warriors who are scheduled to face Ranney twice this week.

6. Rumson-Fair Haven (2-0) Preseason Rank: 6

Bulldogs swept two games from Red Bank, winning on the road Friday after trailing by 10 points in the 3^rd quarter.  Grace Munt came up big in the second game, scoring 25 of her 31 points in the second half.  Big challenge this week with a pair of games against top-ranked St. John Vianney.

7. Marlboro (0-0)  Preseason Rank:  7

Mustangs finally get to play this week with a couple of games against Manalapan.

8. Holmdel (2-0)    Preseason Rank: 9

Ryann Taylor and Olivia Palmer led a balanced attacked that produced a pair of victories over Colts Neck.  This week it’s two games against Middletown North.

 9. Red Bank (0-2)    Preseason Rank:  8

Bucs came up short in the Battle of Ridge Road losing twice to Rumson but

will seek to bounce back against Long Branch this week.

 10. Donovan Catholic (2-0) Preseason Rank: 10

Good start for the Griffins with two hard-fought victories over Freehold Township behind sophomore Gabriella Ross.  This week a pair of games with 2-0 Toms River East.
