Bergen Catholic 4, CBA 3

Zach Wagnon, Michael Schmelzer and Colin Grable scored goals and Joseph Cartigiano made 23 saves but the Colts (7-2-2) were taken down by a late by from BC's Mick Thompson and fell to the Crusaders (9-1-1).

CBA led 1-0 after one period and was tied 2-2 heading to the third. Thompson gave Bergen Catholic a 3-2 lead with 9:31 to play before Wagnon tied the score with 4:40 on the clock. But 42 seconds later, Thompson scored the go-ahead goal.

 

North Division

Rumson-Fair Haven 2, Marlboro 1

Ryan Croddick scored both goals for the unbeaten Bulldogs, including the eventual game-winner with 8:08 left in the third period, to send Rumson past Marlboro in a key division game.

Croddick scored in the first period off assists from Brett Pritchard and Spencer Hobson but Marlboro tied the score later in the period on a goal by Sam Scharf. The game remained tied heading into the third period before Croddick's second tally, scored short-handed off an assist from Pritchard, broke the stalemate.

Marlboro junior goalie Dmitrii Kapranov was outstanding yet again with 45 saves while Ronan Hickey made 16 saves for RFH to earn the win.

 

Central Division

Southern 4, Freehold 1

Junior goalie Trey Mattern stopped 32 shots to record his 1,000th career save and lead the Rams (5-4) past the Colonials (3-4).

Parker Lech had a goal and an assist and Christopher Laureigh, Ben Gautier and Matthew Raylman each scored once.

DJ Clements scored Freehold's goal and Ryan O'Neill made 21 saves.

 

Howell at Wall, 7:15 p.m. - postponed to March 5

 

South Division

Central 6, Toms River East 4

Joey Klutkoski tied a career-high with four goals and Corey van den Berg tallied two goals and two assists as the Golden Eagles (8-2) won a high-scoring game against the Raiders (6-5).

Trevor Coltenback added three assists and Mason Gancy made 22 saves.

Michael Taliercio led Toms River East/South with a goal and two assists. Ryan Fortunato had a goal and an assist, Vito Pecorella and David Deconde each scored once and Aryalis Markland made 32 saves.

 

Brick at Central, 4 p.m. - canceled

 

Nondivisional

St. John Vianney 9, Howell 0

Ryan Kulaszewski totaled six points with a hat trick plus three assists to lead the Lancers (6-1-2) to a lopsided victory over the Rebels (2-7).

Joe Puglisi had a goal and an assist, Colin Gartz dished out four assists and Pat Haines, Luc Barnett, Pat Condello, Mike Reed and Dakota Vastola each scored once  Dan Shallcross and Joe Morris each made five saves to combine in the shutout.

 

Middletown North 5, Jackson Liberty 3

Jesse Dickinson scored three times and added an assist to power the Middletown North (2-2) past Jackson Liberty/Jackson Memorial/Point Boro (1-1).

Zach Brady added a goal and an assist, John Miranda scored once and John Betz chipped in with two assists. Luke Chrzan made 19 saves to earn the win.

Joe Virga, George Hinds and Ronald Polokowski each scored once for Jackson Liberty while James O'Hara made 21 saves.

A power-play goal by Hinds in the third period tied the score at three before Dickonson connected on the power-play to complete his hat trick and give Middletown North the lead. Brady added an empty-net goal with 20 seconds left.

 

Toms River North at Toms River East, 4 p.m. - canceled
