North Division

No. 1 CBA 5, No. 6 Middletown North 1

The Colts (6-0-1, 2-0) had five different goal scorers and junior defenseman Jason Andreyev had three assists as top-ranked CBA rolled to a victory over the Lions (1-1, 0-1).

Senior forward Pete Vallebuona, junior forward Aidan Guinnessey and sophomore forward Leighton Biesiadecki each recorded one goal and one assist while junior forward Zach Wagnon and senior defenseman Colin Grable each scored once. Junior goalie Joseph Cartigiano made 10 saves.

CBA opened a 3-0 lead after the first period on goals by Guinnessey, Wagnon and Biesiadecki. The lead grew to 5-0 after two periods on goals by Grable and Vallebuona.

Middletown North broke up the shutout at the 9:38 mark of the third period when Mike Botti scored off assists from Jason Dickinson and Aidan Cook. Justin Dickinson made 29 saves.

Middletown North was playing its first game since Jan. 19.

 

South Division

Toms River East 9, Lacey 6

David Deconde and Ryan Fortunato each scored twice and Dominick Markland tallied a goal and two assists as the Raiders (4-2) opened up a big lead and held off a late charge by the Lions (0-3).

Christopher Dineen and Jake Verdon each registered a goal and an assist, Vincent Servis and Ethan Smith each scored once and Michael Talierico had two assists.

Frank Hubscher scored twice to lead Lacey, which also received goals from Ryan Gerhauser, Cooper McDonald, Quinn Wagers and EJ Simonson. Jacob Turrin made 35 saves.

Toms River East led 4-1 after the first period on goals by Fortunato, Deconde, Markland and Verdon. The Raiders' lead grew to 8-3 heading to the third period before Lacey scored three times to cut the deficit to 8-6. Smith's goal with 1:40 left provided the final margin.

 

Brick Memorial at Ocean, 6:15 p.m. - postponed

 

Nonconference

Manalapan 4, Monroe 2

Ryan Bechutsky recorded a hat trick and Christian Pietromonaco scored a power-play goal to lead the Braves (3-2) to a victory over the Falcons.

Bechutsky scored goals in each of the first two periods to give Manalapan a 2-0 lead heading to the third period. Monroe cut the lead to 2-1 on a goal by Christian Hermann 36 seconds into the third, but Pietromonaco scored on the power play just over a minute later to stretch the lead to 3-1. Monroe again cut its deficit to one goal when Vincent Foresta scored at 10:33 but Bechutsky completed his hat trick with an unassisted goal with 6:51 to play.

Junior goalie John Fox celebrated his birthday in style by making 40 saves to earn his third win of the season.
