On the day the postseason football pods were announced and the postseason regional brackets in boys and girls soccer and field hockey were seeded, one of the Shore Conference's banner athletic schools had to be shut down due to COVID-19 exposure.

Red Bank Catholic High School will move to virtual instruction and has suspended all athletics and extracurricular activities through Nov. 19, RBC Athletic Director Joe Montano confirmed to Shore Sports Network on Thursday night.

"Due to three positive COVID-19 students this week, the Department of Health has recommended we go to virtual instruction and suspend all athletics and extracurricular activities for 14 days," Montano said."

In football, Red Bank Catholic was placed in the top four-team pod with Wall, Donovan Catholic and Mater Dei Prep. Those four teams are the top four teams in the SSN Top 10 and were scheduled to play for an unofficial Shore Conference championship. Red Bank Catholic (4-1) was set to host Donovan Catholic (5-0) on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. As of now, that game will not be played. Red Bank Catholic's game against Raritan scheduled for this Friday has been canceled.

The Shore Conference Football Committee will convene on Friday morning to discuss any changes to the postseason pods and schedule.

The girls soccer team is the No. 2 seed in the Central East non-public bracket. They are not scheduled to play their first-round game until Nov. 18, so they could still remain in the postseason if the game can be pushed back.

In field hockey, the Caseys are the No. 3 seed in the Central East non-public bracket. Their opening game is scheduled for Nov. 17.

The boys soccer team was to be the 11 seed in the Central East non-public bracket and play its first game on the Nov. 14 but pulled out of the tournament.

Red Bank Catholic is the third Shore Conference school in the last two days to have athletics teams affected by COVID-19, along with Red Bank Regional and Howell.
