Still Plenty To Play For: Neptune vs. Toms River South
When the season began both Neptune and Toms River South set their sights on winning the wide-open and revamped Freedom Division and their match-up in week #6 figured to be one that would impact the race. However, losses to Toms River East hurt both and with the Raiders having clinched the division championship the Scarlet Fliers and Indians still have plenty to play for when they meet at Detweiler Stadium Friday night in the Jersey Mike’s Game of the Week on the Shore Sports Network. The 7 p.m. contest will be streamed live on shoresportsnetwork.com with Matt Harmon, Kevin Williams and Ed Sarluca calling the action. You can also watch the game by downloading the free Shore Sports Network mobile app.
Neptune (2-3) had won its first two Freedom Division games before dropping a 14-13 heartbreaker to East last week. The Scarlet Fliers are led by quarterbacks Jalin Butler and Nino Bua, running back Junior Haughton and receiver Khalil Garrett-Dogan. South (1-3) lost to the Raiders in week one and is still looking for its first division victory, falling to Matawan 48-42 in overtime last week despite two kickoff returns for touchdowns by Gerry Ferrigno. The Indians will count on quarterback Jack Huber and running backs Travis Squire and Jeremy Rose to provide some offensive punch.
Friday Night Football is presented by Jersey Mike’s, Atlantic Physical Therapy Center, Sansone Jr’s 66 Automall, The Turning Point, Asylum Sports Center, RKE Athletic and Leonard Perry Motors.
