Our first Wrestler of the Week award, which encompassed the first two weeks of the season, is Middletown South senior Robert Generelli. The Eagles' 138-pounder won the Walter Woods Tournament title, finished second at the stacked Sam Cali Invitational, and went 3-2 at the prestigious Beast of the East Tournament to begin his season with a 10-3 record. He has since added another victory to move to 11-3.

After losing his opening match at the Beast of the East, Generelli won by fall in three straight bouts to reach the fourth round of wrestlebacks before being eliminated by Blair Academy's Paul Ognissanti.

After a second-place finish at the Sam Cali Invitational, which included some of the state's top teams, Generelli rolled to the Walter Woods title in his home gymnasium with a pin and a major decision along the way.

Middletown South has one of the best lineups it has ever fielded and has its eyes set on the Class A North division title and the program's first NJSIAA state sectional title. The Eagles are currently ranked No. 5 in the Shore Sports Network Top 10. Generelli, who is a two-time region qualifier including a fifth-place finish at 132 pounds last season, has and will continue to be an integral part of the team's success going forward.

The Middletown South faithful filled the ballot box and helped Generelli win the poll with over 45 percent of all votes cast.
