NJSIAA Tournament

South Group 4 Semifinals

1-Southern 12, 5-Howell 4

Senior attackman Ryan Sininksy scored three goals and added two assists and senior goalie Tyler Sininsky made 14 saves to send the defending-champion Rams back to the South Group 4 title game by defeating the Rebels.

Senior midfielder Jake Washco also scored three goals and added one assist while junior attackman Hayden Lucas delivered two goals and two assists. Junior midfielder Joey DeYoung tallied two goals and one assist and senior midfielder Zach Washco also scored twice. Senior FOGO Kurt Falk won 12 of 20 at the face-off X.

Southern opened a 4-0 lead after the first quarter and led 7-2 at halftime. An even third quarter made it 9-4 heading into the final 12 minutes where Southern scored three unanswered goals to put the finishing touches on a convincing victory.

Howell senior goalie Colin Fay was outstanding with a career-high 24 saves. Senior attackman Vincent Burns scored twice and senior midfielders Tyler Burns and Doug MacKenzie had one goal each for the Rebels.

Southern will host Lenape in the sectional title game on Saturday at 10 a.m.

 

South Group 2 Semifinals

2-Manasquan 7, 3-Wall 6

Senior midfielder Robert Pendergist scored the go-ahead goal with 1:10 left and senior goalie Carter Groezinger made two huge saves in the final 45 seconds as the Warriors held on to beat the Crimson Knights in an instant classic to advance to the South Group 2 sectional championship game.

Junior attackman James Farinacci led Manasquan with three goals and one assist and senior midfielder Niland DiLuchio scored twice to pace the Manasquan offense, Junior attackman Matt Porazzo scored once in his return to action after missing the last three games and it was his goal with 4:14 left that tied the score 6-6.

Groezinger finished with nine saves, five of which came in the first quarter. Senior FOGO Max Pauwels won 14 of 17 face-offs while senior defenseman Ryan Bilello, sophomore defenseman Kyle Capodanno, freshman LSM Parker Harms, senior defensemen Jack and Ryan Burns, and senior defensive midfielder Dan Hyland helped limit a powerful Wall offense to six goals.

Senior goalie Aiden Kessler played a great game for Wall by making nine saves while senior midfielder Matt Dollive and junior attackman John McCurry each scored twice to lead Wall's offense. Shea Brennan and Jack Meyer also scored for the Crimson Knights.

Manasquan will play at top-seeded Rumson-Fair Haven in the sectional final on Friday at 4 p.m.

 

1-Rumson-Fair Haven 14, 4-Hopewell Valley 2

Senior midfielder Philip Passalaqua and junior attackmen Cole Cashion and Quinn Stankovits each scored three times as the Bulldogs throttled state No. 18 Hopewell Valley to return to the sectional final.

Senior attackman Christian Bockelmann had two goals and one assist while freshman attackman Grayson Goldin, sophomore midfielder Andy Croddick, and junior LSM Matthew Bockelmann each scored once. Noah Beacher, Luke Marascio, DJ Devine, and Braiden Spagnuola combined to go 18-for-22 at the face-off X.

Rumson will host Manasquan on Friday at 4 p.m. in the sectional final.

 

South Group 1 Semifinals

2-Haddonfield 11, 3-Shore 6

The Blue Devils' season came to an end at the hands of the Bulldogs and were denied their first trip to a sectional final. Shore led 4-3 at halftime but Haddoinfield scored eight times in the second half to earn the victory.
