Big Frog of Monmouth Wrestler of the Week: Long Branch’s Chris Dean
Every week this season, Shore Conference wrestling fans will have their chance to vote for the Big Frog of Monmouth Shore Conference Wrestler of the Week on our website.
The winner of the Week 6 (Jan. 29 - Feb. 4) readers' vote for the Shore Conference Wrestler of the Week is Long Branch senior Chris Dean, who reached a career milestone by picking up his 100th career win.
Dean's only bout of the week came in Long Branch's 36-24 victory over Point Beach where he won by 21-5 technical fall over Mike Duffy to reach 100 victories. Dean is the 13th wrestler in Long Branch history to reach 100 wins and currently sits at 102 career wins. He has since won by fall over Burlington Township's Alex DeAngelis and won by decision over Colts Neck's Justin Pierre-Louis as the Green Wave advanced to the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 4 final.
Now 21-9 on the season, Dean will try to help Long Branch capture its first sectional title since 2013 when its hosts Brick Memorial in the Central Jersey Group 4 final on Friday night.
Dean won the fan vote with 43.21 percent of the votes to finish ahead of Toms River East's Michael Conklin and Freehold Township's Eric Quartey.
