Game One

Rumson-Fair Haven (18-3, 13-1 in Class A Central)

Head Coach: Owen Stewart, second season

Road to the Semifinals

Round of 16: Senior Charlie Jones pitched a five-inning one-hitter and seven Rumson players logged multiple hits as part of an 18-hit barrage that overwhelmed No. 17 Neptune, 13-0. Brian Doherty went 3-for-3 with two RBI and Liam Murphy (2-for-2, double, three RBI), Reece Moroney (2-for-2, two RBI) and Owen Kenney (2-for-2, double, RBI) all had perfect days at the plate.

Quarterfinal: Brian Doherty hit a game-winning, walk-off RBI single with two out and the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh to give the Bulldogs a 3-2 win over No. 9 St. John Vianney. The first attempt to play the game started on Friday, but fog, rain and impending thunderstorms prompted the umpires to call the game in the bottom of the fifth inning and no score. The teams had to restart on Saturday and Rumson junior John Goodes pitched a four-hitter with one earned run allowed and outlasted St. John Vianney starter Nick Ferraioli (two runs in six innings). Johnny Bruno went 3-for-3 with a solo home run for Rumson.
