Class A North

No. 6 Colts Neck 4, No. 9 Middletown South 3

Sam DeVitis went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Chris Murphy allowed just one baserunner to reach in 2 1/3 innings of relief to close out a Cougars win over the Eagles. Colts Neck is now 6-1 in one-run games.

Senior Gianni Magliaro pitched the first 4 2/3 innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits and six walks while striking out five. Tyler Kapuscinski also went 2-for-3 at the plate in the win.

Nolan Pereless singled and scored on an RBI single by Andrew Wisialko in the first inning and Zach deRocco added an RBI single in the third to momentarily give Middletown South a 2-0 lead.

No. 5 CBA 4, No. 2 Freehold Twp. 1

Sophomore Luca Dalatri improved to 5-0 with a three-hit complete game, helping the Colts end a six-game winning streak by the Patriots while extending their own winning streak to six. Dalatri allowed one earned run, did not walk a batter and struck out 10. Dalatri now has 46 strikeouts in 34 innings and has walked only three batters.

CBA scored its first two runs of the game without the benefit of a hit. The Colts worked six walks in the game and finally broke up the collective no-hitter for the Patriots pitchers in the seventh with two insurance runs on three hits. Ryan Ramiz broke up the no-hitter with a clean single to left field and Will Morgan drilled a two-run home run to right field. Pete Papcun added an infield single in the inning and stole his third base of the game.

Freehold Township scored just the second earned run of the season off Dalatri when Steve Derby hammered a two-out double over the head of left fielder Griffin Arnott, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on an RBI single by Chris Talbott, who went 2-for-3 in the game to lead the Freehold Township offense.

Joe Decelie pitched 4 2/3 no-hit innings and struck out six, but ran up a pitch-count of 101 before departing in the fifth. Jose Diaz got the last out of the fifth and Kenny Carrier struck out the side around a lead-off walk in the sixth before Ramiz led off the seventh with a single.

Howell 2, Manalapan 1

Rob Napolitano went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in the sixth inning and Ryan Wares pitched a four-hitter to lead the Rebels to a win over Braves, snapping a three-game skid.

Napolitano also singled and scored on an RBI double by Justin Steele in the second inning. Stephen Carbonara drove in the lone Manalapan run with an RBI single in the seventh against Wares, who did not allow an earned run and struck out five with four walks.

Alex Wolfe took the hard-luck loss for Manalapan, scattering seven hits and walking none in a six-inning complete game.

Marlboro 3, Middletown North 1

Junior Andrew Nardi allowed just one unearned run and struck out nine in a four-hit complete game as the Mustangs topped the Lions. Justin Trochiano went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI to lead the Marlboro offense.

Matt Nelson also went 1-for-3 with two runs scored, while Matt Discuillo was 1-for-3 with an RBI in the win.

 

Class A Central

Rumson-Fair Haven 4, Holmdel 1

Morgan Maguire continued his torrid hitting season by going 3-for-3 with two doubles and two runs scored and the Bulldogs backed up a two-hitter by Shane McCarthy in a win over the Hornets.

Maguire is now hitting .688 (22-for-32) with six doubles, a triple and two home runs this season.

McCarthy struck out seven in his second complete game of the season. Max Goione went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI while Thomas Culligan was 2-for-3 with an RBI in the win.

Red Bank Catholic 10, Raritan 3

The Caseys took advantage of six Raritan errors and needed only five hits to top the Rockets and secure their 10th win of the season. Senior Brendan Madigan scored four runs out of the leadoff spot and sophomore Evan Madigan finished 2-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI.

Bruce Strickland went 2-for-3 with a double and Nick Glesnor was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Shore 3, Monmouth 1

Senior Matt Cosentino pitched a three-hitter and homered for good measure as the Blue Devils snapped a five-game losing streak by beating the Falcons. Cosentino struck out five with no walks and took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before Tim Reynolds singled with one out in the inning.

Cosentino's solo homer opened the scoring in the fourth and Shore added a run in the fifth on a passed ball and another in the seventh on an RBI single by Nick Blaney. Matt McCarthy and Andrew Schultz also added two hits apiece in the win.

Joe Berner knocked in the lone Monmouth run with an RBI single in the seventh.

No. 10 St. John Vianney 4, Manasquan 2

Anthony LaVigne doubled and drove in all four runs and Justin Chin scattered seven hits over six innings to pick up the win as the Lancers held off the Warriors.

Evan Pietronico went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and Anthony Santoro finished 1-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base in the win. Tommy Toole went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Manasquan and Matt Edwards hit a solo home run in  in the loss.

 

Class A South

Brick Memorial 3, Southern 2

Kyle Cala broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI double and Tyler Goodman struck out eight in a four-hitter to help the Mustangs beat the Rams. Goodman allowed just one earned run and walked only one in the win.

Nick Matteo went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Brick Memorial, while Antonio Dinis led Southern's offense by going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

 

Class B North

Ocean 3, Freehold 1

Senior left-hander Ryan Lillie pitched a complete-game six-hitter with five strikeouts and Anthony Bartolomei gave his starter the necessary offense with a two-run double in the third to help the Spartans edged the Colonials.

Sam Maxwell and Frank Henry each had two hits for Ocean. Dante Cuzzolino had two hits for Freehold, while John Bostic drove in the lone Freehold run with an RBI double.

Matawan 4, Neptune 3

Billy Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with three RBI and Mike Creamer recorded the final out of the game to preserve Nick Santuccio's fifth win of the season and nail down a Huskies win over the Scarlet Fliers.

Creamer also tripled and scored a run before entering in the seventh after Santuccio went 6 2/3 innings.

Kevin Welsh went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored for Neptune.

No. 4 Wall 6, Red Bank 2

Ryan Orender and Dan Wondrack each had two hits and two RBI and Tyler Swiggart scattered nine hits to improve to 6-0 as the Crimson Knights topped the Bucs. Swiggart allowed two earned runs and struck out six.

Wondrack doubled for one of his hits, while Brendan Barcas andd Tim Willey also added two hits each.

Sean O'Connell, Jacob Nappi and Connor Kelly all had two hits apiece, with Nappi and O'Connell each checking in with a double.

 

Class B Central
At First Energy Park, Lakewood

Mater Dei Prep 9, Keyport 3

Pat Donohue went 3-for-5 with a double, triple and two RBI and Jerry Trotta finished 2-for-3 with a double and four RBI to lead the Seraphs to a win over the Red Raiders. Taylor Hardy allowed three runs on five hits over six innings to earn the win, striking out six and walking three.

Sam Miles also went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI for Mater Dei Prep. Ryan Leary led the Keyport lineup by going 2-for-4 with a double, triple, two runs scored and an RBI.

 

Class B South

No. 8 Jackson Liberty 3, Point Boro 0

James Sofield pitched six shutout innings, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out nine and the Lions topped the Panthers for their eighth straight win. Howard Taylor struck out the side around two hits in the bottom of the seventh to secure the save.

Joe Santanello plated the first run of the game with a sacrifice fly and catcher Joel Rivera went 2-for-3 with an RBI double. Taylor also went 1-for-3 with a run scored at the plate.

Mike Dunham allowed three unearned runs on three hits in a complete game for Point Boro. The senior right-hander struck out four and walked only one.

Lakewood 8, No. 7 Barnegat 2

Jaison Jerez and Ivan Marks each went 2-for-3 with a double and a home run and the Piners jumped on the Bengals and held on for the upset. Alex Catalan, Harry Brown and winning pitcher Steven Acosta each went 2-for-3 with a double for Lakewood, which smashed seven extra-base hits.

Nik Fraim hit a solo home run for Barnegat, his third home run in the last three games.

Monsignor Donovan 12, Pinelands 10

Freshman Ian Koukos went 4-for-4 with a double and three runs scored to follow up his two-home-run game on Sunday and lead the Griffins to a high-scoring win over the Wildcats.

Bryan Mulligan went 2-for-3 with a double, 3 RBI and three runs scored and Steve Lazicki went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI in the win.

Vinny Bondinello went 2-for-5 with a three-run double for Pinelands, while Cory Burke was 3-for-4 with an RBI and Sage Sysol finished 2-for-3 with an RBI.

 

Non-Division

Long Branch 2, Keansburg 0

Christian Hernandez scattered eight hits in a shutout and the Green Wave got past the Titans in a non-division game. Hernandez struck out four, did not walk a batter and pitched out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the second inning to thwart Keansburg's most dangerous threat.

Anthony Brier went 2-for-3 for Long Branch and Nick Conklin drove in Connor Mullan with an RBI single in the sixth.

Brick 17, Point Beach 5 (6 Innings)

Nick Zbranak went 4-for-4 with a double, home run and four RBI and Carmen Sclafani was 5-for-6 with three doubles, two runs scored and three RBI to lead an offensive onslaught by the Green Dragons in a win over the Garnet Gulls.

Central 2, Lacey 1

Andrew DiPiazza turned in a two-hit complete game with 11 strikeouts and the Golden Eagles handed the Lions their fifth one-run loss of the season (1-5).

Class A South
At FirstEnergy Park, Lakewood

Brick 4, Brick Memorial 3

Senior right-hander Evan Lobato struck out 10 in a seven-hit complete game and the Green Dragons (5-7, 4-6) held on to beat the Mustangs (5-7, 5-4) for the second time this season, giving coach Jason Groschel his 100th career win.

Ron Parliament opened the scoring for Brick with a two-run single in the second inning and Brian Gallagher went 2-for-3 with an RBI single and a run scored in the win.

Brian Markoski went 2-for-4 with two runs scored for Brick Memorial.

 

Non-Division

Monsignor Donovan 14, Southern 11

Freshman outfielder Ian Koukos hit the first two home runs of his career and senior Chris Calderone drove in three runs as the Griffins (4-11) outscored the Rams (4-8) in a non-division game. Sophomore Andrew Jarvis pitched five innings of relief and allowed four runs to earn his first varsity win.

Nick Sinopoli doubled twice and homered for Southern and Nick Scalone also went deep in the loss.

 

At Richmond County Stadium, Staten Island, N.Y.

Matawan 10, Keansburg 3 

The Huskies (8-5) erupted for 10 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to give Adam Elliot his fourth win of the season on the mound and beat the Titans (7-5). Chris Veary, Justin Henderson, Matt Esposito, Nick Smith and Joe Piscopo each had an RBI hit in the big fifth inning, with Piscopo doubling home a run.

Mike Keelan went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Keansburg.
