There were some great individual performances in the air, on the ground, on defense, and on special teams in Week 5, and now it’s time to get your vote in for who had the top performance in the Shore this weekend to choose the Ocean County Sports Medicine/Shore Sports Network Player of the Week. The winner will be announced on Thursday right here on ShoreSportsNetwork.com. Voting will end Wednesday at midnight.    

The winner will receive a $25 gift card to Burger 25 in Toms River.

Ocean County Sports Medicine Player of the Week nominees for Week 5 (listed in alphabetical order) 

 

Joe Beley, Sr., QB/LB, Point Beach

Beley ran for 63 yards and two touchdowns on five carries, threw for 52 yards and a touchdown, and posted seven tackles, one sack, and two tackles for loss on defense to power the Garnet Gulls to a 45-8 win over KIPP Academy.

 

Jake Croce, Jr., RB, Point Boro

Croce ran for 165 yards and four touchdowns on just nine carries in the No. 4 Panthers' 56-0 win over Toms River East to improve to 5-0.

 

Welman Crooms, Fr., WR, Matawan

Crooms caught seven passes for 131 yards and a touchdown and ran for 67 yards on two carries to help the Huskies defeat Holmdel, 34-14, for their fourth straight win.

 

Albert D'Alessandro, Jr., WR/DB, Jackson Memorial

D'Alessandro caught touchdown passes of 57 and 19 yards and returned an interception 90 yards for a touchdown as the Jaguars rolled to a 34-0 win over crosstown rival Jackson Liberty to retain the Connor Cup.

 

Chase Enlow, So., RB, Freehold Township

Enlow ran for 190 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries to help Freehold Township rally from a two-score deficit to defeat Brick Memorial, 21-20.

 

CJ Flannigan, Sr., WR, Ocean

Flannigan caught four passes for 145 yards and a touchdown and also ran for a touchdown as Ocean won 34-13 over Raritan to remain undefeated at 5-0.

 

Jack Gartenstein, Sr., WR/DB, Howell

Gartenstein caught eight passes for 117 yards, ran for a 23-yard touchdown, and intercepted a pass during a 24-14 victory over Wall that sent the Rebels to 3-2 on the season.

 

Alex George, Jr., RB, Shore Regional

George ran for 128 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries as the Blue Devils won 17-7 over Monmouth Regional to improve to 4-1.

 

AJ Grygiel, Sr., QB, Brick

Grygiel ran for 100 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries and threw a touchdown pass to lead the Dragons to a 34-0 win over Central Regional.

 

Luke Mikolajczyk, Sr., LB, Rumson-Fair Haven

Mikolajczyk recorded 11 total tackles with a sack and three tackles for loss to lead the Bulldogs' defense in a 27-0 shutout victory over Southern, the third straight win for No. 7 Rumson after an 0-2 start.

 

Josh Moore, Jr., RB, Toms River North

Moore had a 54-yard touchdown run and a 49-yard touchdown reception to help lead the No. 2 Mariners to a 60-0 victory over Toms River South.

 

Jaimin Parkinson, So., RB, Pinelands

Parkinson was a workhorse for the Wildcats in their 35-6 win over Lakewood with 227 yards and four touchdowns on 32 carries.

 

Brett Patten, Sr., QB, Manasquan

Patten returned after missing the last two games and completed 5 of 7 passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns to set Manasquan's all-time record for career touchdown passes (40) and help lead the Warriors to a 42-7 win over Manchester, their first of the season.

 

Jackson Pfister, So., DB, Manalapan

Pfister returned an interception for a touchdown on the first play of the game, added a second interception later on, and recorded five tackles, one sack, and a forced fumble in Manalapan's 35-0 win over Freehold Boro.

 

Will Surdez, Sr., LB/RB, Colts Neck

Surdez led Colts Neck's defense with 13 tackles and two tackles for loss and also ran for a touchdown as the No. 9 Cougars defeated Lacey, 28-13, for their fourth consecutive victory.

 

Nazir Treadwell, Jr., RB, Keyport

Treadwell ran for 158 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries, scoring on runs of 34 and 75 yards, to help the Red Raiders rally in the fourth quarter to top Gateway, 19-9.

 

Kyle Verriest, Sr., WR/DB, St. John Vianney

Verriest had a 27-yard touchdown reception and a 37-yard punt return touchdown and also intercepted a pass on defense as the Lancers won 28-14 over Marlboro to win their fifth straight and improve to 5-1.
