There were some great individual performances in the air, on the ground, on defense, and on special teams in Week 2, and now it’s time to get your vote in for who had the top performance in the Shore this weekend to choose the Ocean County Sports Medicine/Shore Sports Network Player of the Week. The winner will be announced on Thursday right here on ShoreSportsNetwork.com. Voting will end Wednesday at midnight.    

The winner will receive a $25 gift card to Burger 25 in Toms River.

Ocean County Sports Medicine Player of the Week nominees for Week 2 (listed in alphabetical order) 

Mateo Andrews, Sr., WR, Ocean

Andrews caught two passes for 77 yards, including a 71-yard touchdown catch, and also returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown to help the Spartans defeat Neptune, 43-14, to improve to 2-0.

 

Tyrone Benjamin, Sr., WR, Manchester

Benjamin caught a 54-yard touchdown pass and finished with four receptions for 109 yards as the Hawks beat Toms River East, 21-13, to improve to 2-0 for the first time since 2017.

 

Roman Blanks, So., QB, Keyport

Blanks threw a 35-yard touchdown pass and rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown to lead the Red Raiders to a 30-22 win over Asbury Park.

 

Davin Brewton, Jr., LB, Red Bank Catholic

The top-ranked Caseys rolled to a 25-3 win over Wall and Brewton starred on defense with nine tackles, 1 sack, and 3 tackles for loss.

 

Najee Calhoun, Fr., RB, Donovan Catholic

Calhoun ran for 169 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries in Donovan's 21-0 victory over Rumson-Fair Haven.

 

Connor Dietz, Jr., QB/FS, Brick Memorial

Dietz ran for 229 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries, completed 8 of 12 passes for 200 yards and two touchdowns, made eight tackles, and intercepted a pass to lead the Mustangs to a 28-14 win over Red Bank.

 

Kieran Falzon, Sr., RB, Raritan

Falzon ran for 142 yards and a touchdown as the Rockets improved to 2-0 with a 21-13 win over Monmouth Regional.

 

Seth Freiwald, Sr., LB, Barnegat

Freiwald posted nine total tackles with four tackles for loss as the Bengals won a 7-6 defensive battle with Pinelands.

 

Colin Gallagher, Jr., LB, Middletown South

Gallagher was a beast on defense in the Eagles' dramatic 17-14 comeback win over Manalapan with 16 total tackles, 3 sacks, and 5 tackles for loss.

 

Roman Grauso, Sr., RB/LB, Point Beach

Grauso ran for 70 yards and three touchdowns, caught two passes for 32 yards and a touchdown, and recorded 14 tackles with two tackles for loss in the Garnet Gulls' 32-22 win over Keansburg.

 

AJ Grygiel, Sr., QB, Brick

Grygiel ran for 100 yards and a touchdown (65 yards) on nine carries and threw for 79 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Dragons to a 29-8 win over Toms River South.

 

Sekou Kamau, Sr., RB, Long Branch

Kamau had a huge day in Long Branch's 34-21 win over Lacey with 201 yards rushing and two touchdowns (75 and 79 yards) plus a 92-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

 

Ty Kazanowsky, Sr., LB, Toms River North

Kazanowsky made 15 total tackles with four tackles for loss to lead the Mariners' defense to a 42-0 shutout of Southern.

 

Tai Mann, Sr., QB, Jackson Memorial

Mann rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries and completed 7 of 12 passes for 102 yards in the Jaguars' 20-19 win over Howell.

 

Am'ir Martinez de Scott, So., QB, Matawan

Martinez ran for 149 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries and threw for 91 yards and a touchdown to help lead the Huskies to a 42-7 win over Jackson Liberty.

 

Matt Oliphant, Jr., QB, Point Boro

Oliphant rushed for 228 yards and four touchdowns on 19 carries to lead a potent Panthers ground attack that powered Point Boro to a 39-13 win over Manasquan.

 

Artem Reinikov-Jouk, Sr., DL, Manalapan

Jouk had another strong game for the Braves' defense with 10 total tackles and 4 tackles for a loss in Manalapan's 17-14 loss to Middletown South.

 

Chris Scully, Jr., RB, Colts Neck

Scully ran for a career-high 204 yards and scored two touchdowns on 24 carries as the Cougars rolled to a 50-13 win over Freehold.

 

Luke Sheehan, Jr., QB, Middletown North

Sheehan completed 15 of 19 passes for 262 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Lions to a 21-14 win over Central.

 

Anthony Tropeano, Jr., LB, Marlboro

Tropeano made nine tackles with two sacks, three tackles for loss, and a 20-yard interception return for a touchdown as the Mustangs defeated Freehold Township, 35-7, to improve to 2-0.
