There were some great individual performances in the air, on the ground, on defense, and on special teams in Week 1, and now it’s time to get your vote in for who had the top performance in the Shore this weekend to choose the Ocean County Sports Medicine/Shore Sports Network Player of the Week. The winner will be announced on Thursday right here on ShoreSportsNetwork.com. Voting will end Wednesday at midnight.

The winner will receive a $25 gift card to Burger 25 in Toms River.

Ocean County Sports Medicine Player of the Week nominees for Week 1 (listed in alphabetical order)

James Alexander, Jr., QB, Toms River South

Alexander had two touchdown passes, including a 15-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Jones with six seconds left in regulation to lead the Indians to a thrilling 22-14 win over Toms River East, giving head coach Matt Martin his first career win.

Ryan Allen, Sr., QB, Pinelands

The Wildcats' senior quarterback ran for 173 yards and a touchdown on just nine carries, including a 76-yard touchdown on Pinelands' first offensive play. He also completed 6 of 12 passes for 78 yards and a touchdown as the 'Cats defeated Point Beach, 19-14, to give head coach John Tierney his first career win.

Dan Calicari, Sr., SB/SS, Raritan

Calicari's versatility was on display during the Rockets' 31-23 victory over Matawan. He ran back the second-half kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown, rushed for 60 yards on seven carries, and caught two passes for a team-high 32 yards.

Matt Cassidy, Jr., RB/SS, Marlboro

Cassidy ran for 128 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries and also made 16 tackles with one tackle for loss to power the Mustangs to a 34-7 win over Brick.

Zack Corrado, Sr., RB, Jackson Liberty

Corrado ran for three touchdowns, scoring on runs of 46, 1, and 25 yards, and also ran for a 2-point conversion in the Lions' 46-7 win over Keansburg.

Albert D'Alessandro, Jr., WR/DB, Jackson Memorial

D'Alessandro had a 41-yard touchdown reception and also returned a punt 90 yards for a touchdown late in the first half to help lead the Jaguars to a 35-21 victory over Brick Memorial.

Tyler Douglas, Sr., QB, Ocean

Douglas, who is verbally committed to Temple University, tossed a pair of touchdown passes and ran for two touchdowns to lead the Spartans' to a 28-14 win over Holmdel.

Chase Enlow, So., RB, Freehold Township

The Patriots' standout sophomore rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries to help lead Freehold Township to a 27-0 victory over Barnegat.

Micah Ford, Jr., QB/DB, Toms River North

Running behind a dominant offensive line, Ford rushed for 268 yards and five touchdowns on 26 carries to lead the way in the Mariners' 40-27 win over Rumson-Fair Haven. Ford had scoring runs of 3, 2, 33, 11, and 25 yards. He also completed 3 of 4 passes for 84 yards and had a key fourth-down pass breakup on defense.

Colin Gallagher, Jr., RB/LB, Middletown South

Gallagher was instrumental in the Eagles' 23-13 comeback victory over Long Branch. He ran for 90 yards on nine carries, including touchdowns runs of 2 and 44 yards, and on defense, he had a huge game with 14 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and 3.5 tackles for loss.

Jack Gartenstein, Sr., QB, Howell

Gartenstein threw for 104 yards and a touchdown and also ran for two touchdowns in the Rebels' 20-7 victory over Central.

Julian Jones, Sr., RB, Monmouth

Jones rushed for 208 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries, scoring on a pair of runs over 70 yards, to help send the Falcons' to a 38-28 victory over Red Bank.

Todd Lambertson, Jr., QB, Donovan Catholic

Making his varsity debut, Lambertson delivered an excellent game by completing 10 of 12 passes for 241 yards and three touchdowns as the Griffins opened their season with a 41-7 win over Lacey.

Josh Love, Jr., RB, Manchester

Love rushed for 166 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries as the Hawks rallied to defeat Lakewood, 43-26, and give head coach Tommy Farrell his first career win.

Anthony Macchio, Jr., WR/DB/KR, Manalapan

With a 35-yard touchdown reception and a 60-yard punt return for a touchdown, Macchio supplied both of the Braves' touchdowns in a 14-3 win over Middletown North to improve to 2-0. He also recovered a fumble on defense.

Matt Oliphant, Jr., QB, Point Boro

Oliphant had a smashing debut as the Panthers' starting quarterback, rushing for 131 yards and three touchdowns on just eight carries and also passing for 30 yards in a 42-0 win over Neptune.

Chris Scully, Jr., RB, Colts Neck

The Cougars came up short in a 28-21 loss to St. John Vianney in the final seconds but Scully was outstanding nonetheless with 149 yards rushing and three touchdowns on 29 carries plus four receptions for 49 yards.

Kyle Verriest, Sr., WR/RB/DB, St. John Vianney

Verriest scored on a 21-yard touchdown run with 26 seconds left in regulation to lift the Lancers to a dramatic 28-21 win over Colts Neck. He totaled 72 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 12 carries and also had a team-high three catches for 81 yards.

Frankie Williams, So., QB, Red Bank Catholic

Williams completed 4 of 4 passes for 73 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for a 14-yard touchdown during the Caseys' 63-0 victory over Freehold.
