A truly great weekend for Central Regional baseball as they induct their first Legends of the Diamond class and re-dedicate their field

Not since Al Leiter dominated during a legendary 1984 season has a member of the Leiter family pitched at Central. Almost 40 years later, Cam Leiter finally continues the Leiter legacy at the family alma mater.

As the old saying goes, the apple has not fallen far from the tree.

The Berkeley Little League will dedicate their complex to the first family of baseball in the township Friday night while at the same time rededicating an existing field to its favorite son.

One of the highlights of this past weekend’s 6th Annual Strike Out Autism Challenge” was the return of Al Leiter to the baseball field that made him famous.

The 6th Annual Strike Out Autism Challenge raises awareness of the disorder and money for programs for students on the spectrum in Ocean and Monmouth Counties to learn life skills and prepare for the world awaiting them.
