Shore Conference, NJ Ice Hockey – Three Stars for Wednesday, Feb. 10
In an homage to a National Hockey League tradition dating back to the 1936-1937 season, Shore Sports Network will be selecting three standouts from each day of Shore Conference ice hockey. The Three Stars of the Day will be posted each morning for the previous day's games.
First Star
Domenick Competello, Jr., Fwd., Central Regional
Competello scored a career-high four goals to lead the Golden Eagles to an impressive 7-0 victory over Red Bank Regional in a South Division game between two teams that were unbeaten within division play. Competello registered a natural hat trick in the first period and then scored the first goal of the second period to give Central a commanding 4-0 lead. Central is a perfect 7-0 this season and Competello is among the Shore Conference's leading scorers with nine goals and 10 assists.
Second Star
Ryan Bechutsky, Sr., Fwd., Manalapan
Bechutsky notched his second consecutive hat trick to power the Braves to a 6-3 victory over South Brunswick. He finished with three goals and one assist to give him a team-leading eight goals and five assists in six games.
Third Star
Christopher Laureigh, Jr., Fwd., Southern
Southern opened a three-goal lead and held on for a 4-2 victory over Wall to give them wins on back-to-back nights and a four-game winning streak after starting the season 0-2. Laureight had a hand in all four goals with two goals and two assists and now has six goals and eight assists in six games this season.
