Score at the Shore- Manahawkin, NJ

No. 5 Trinity Hall 61, Southern Regional 32 -

MANAHAWKIN, NJ -- A well balanced Trinity Hall (3-2) handed Southern Regional (4-1) their first loss in the "Score at the Shore" tournament on Saturday December 23rd. Junior Lilly Riggi led the scoring effort with 15 points and both Whitney Hobson and Harvard commit Nina Emnace reached double digits with 10 points a piece in the 61-32 rout.

After the first quarter, Trinity Hall led 16-9. "We looked flat coming out, and that's the stuff we have to fix if we want to be considered" said Coach Matt McCarthy. The second quarter was a different story as the girls clicked on the court and the Monarchs scored 24 while limiting the red hot Rams to only two. "We woke up, and the girls looked great. We were able to get in our normal rhythm" McCarthy continued.

Five of the eight girls in Trinity Hall's rotation are sophomores who are looking to be the anchor of the Monarchs future. The 3rd quarter was an opportunity to get more girls some high quality tournament minutes, and the Rams looked to claw back with this opportunity by outscoring their opponent 15-8. The hole was just too big; and with the identity of Trinity Hall girls basketball being hard work and superior conditioning, the Monarchs handled their business with class.

Trinity Hall will play the next round on December 28th back at Southern Regional with their opponent dependent on the outcome of todays matchups.
