Every week this spring, Jersey Mike’s and Shore Sports Network will be teaming up to select a Lacrosse Team of the Week based on its performance over the past week.

The Jersey Mike's Team of the Week for Week 4 is Holmdel, which came up with a signature victory by defeating No. 8 Red Bank in a big Class B North game to headline a two-win week. Shore Sports Network stopped by practice on Tuesday to present the Hornets and head coach Brendan Quinn with a special Team of the Week certificate and a $250 Jersey Mike's gift card.

The week began with a 15-5 victory over St. Rose in which senior attackman Kyle Kapcsos scored four times and added five assists to eclipse the 100-goal milestone for his career and lead the Hornets past the Purple Roses. He also crossed the 150-point mark for his career.  Jaden Gallo and Evan Cohen also scored four times with Gallo also adding two assists. Will Gilfillan tallied a goal and two assists, Jared Battaglia had a goal and an assist, and Aidan Lagana scored once. Freshman FOGO Jack Powers continued his standout season by going 16 for 24 at the X and junior goalie Andrew Arredondo had another strong game with 13 saves.

Next up was a road matchup with eighth-ranked Red Bank Regional, which was coming off a big win over Middletown South two days prior. Holmdel was hoping to get over the hump after going 0-4 in its four previous games against teams ranked in the SSN Top 10. Losses to No. 5 Shore, No. 7 Howell, and No. 10 Red Bank Catholic coming by a combined four goals showed the Hornets were primed for a breakthrough, however.

Against the host Bucs, Holmdel jumped out to a 7-3 halftime lead and held off a late rally by RBR to earn its first win over a ranked opponent this season. Kapscos led the way with three goals and two assists and Cohen also scored three goals. Secondary scoring for Holmdel was provided by Dylan Lagana, Aidan Lagana, and Battaglia with one goal each while Arredondo made 12 saves.

Holmdel had its three-game winning streak come to an end with an 18-1 loss to No. 1 Rumson-Fair Haven the day later, but the Hornets were able to bounce back with a dominant 19-6 win over Donovan Catholic heading into the Shore Conference Tournament. They are 9-5 heading into Wednesday's game vs. Neptune before and all five losses have come to ranked teams.

Holmdel has received offensive contributions from a variety of players with Kapcsos leading the charge. The senior attackman leads Holmdel in goals (40). assists (26), and points (66) through 14 games. Sophomore midfielder Will Gilfillan has 25 goals and 22 assists, Cohen has 22 goals and 12 assists, Aidan Lagana has 22 goals and 9 assists, Battaglia has 11 goals and 14 assists, Gallo has 17 goals and 8 assists, and Dylan Lagana has 15 goals and 2 assists.

Powers has also been a major weapon for Holmdel at the face-off X. The freshman FOGO has won 199 of 293 face-offs for a 68% winning percentage. He also has one goal and four assists. In between the pipes, Arredondo has put together a strong season with 125 saves and a 60% save percentage.

Holmdel is a team to watch in the upcoming SCT. The Hornets are likely to be seeded 8th based on their LaxNumbers rating and a head-to-head result vs. Howell. The official seeds will be released on Wednesday night and posted to ShoreSportsNetwork.com.
