The Basketball Player of the Week has been a staple of Shore Sports Network's coverage over the years and we have always left it up to the fans to decide the winner -- and still do. Now, SSN is recognizing its own choices for Player of the Week, not just in the Shore Conference, but in Monmouth and Ocean Counties individually.
Monmouth County Week 4 Player of the Week Presented by Savvy Fit Soaps
Hope Masonius, Manasquan
Masonius helped No. 3 Manasquan end St. John Vianney’s reign on top of the Shore Conference in a 46-40 victory. Masonius averaged 15.3 points and 9.3 rebounds a game and was named Player of the Game in the Coaches vs Cancer Showcase at Donovan Catholic High School.
Masonius started the week posting a double-double against division rival No. 14 Neptune. She scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the 56-24 victory for the Warriors. She also had a strong game defensively with 2 blocks and 2 steals.
Against No. 1 SJV, Masonius scored 21 points and grabbed 9 rebounds to help hand SJV their first defeat in the Shore Conference since 03/05/2019. Masonius played an important part in breaking the SJV press in the victory.
Masonius finished the week being named the Player of the Game for Manasquan in the Coaches vs Cancer Showcase. She scored 14 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and had 3 steals in a defeat to No. 10 Red Bank Regional.
