Toms River South senior Victoria Alvarez reached a milestone that had not been achieved in 12 years by an Indians girls basketball player when she registered her 1,000th point on Saturday in a loss to Middle Township.

A four-year varsity player, Alvarez got her 1,000th point on a free throw in the third quarter of a 51-22 loss to Middle Township in a showcase at Mainland High School.
