MIDDLETOWN - Shore Regional's junior-heavy roster suffered losses early in the season, but the Blue Devils entered the Shore Conference Tournament on a three-game winning surge ready to take on a team that had lost five of its last six.
Junior Taylor Souza scored a goal and assisted one by senior Chris LaMarca in to lead the 18th-seeded Blue Devils past No. 15 Middletown North Monday, 2-0, and into the Shore Conference Tournament round of 16 Wednesday against No. 2 Holmdel.

Souza opened the scoring in the 33rd minute off a feed from senior Jeremy Lang to send Shore into the half with a 1-0 lead. The Blue Devils tacked on a goal in the sixth minute of the second half when Souza found LaMarca for a 2-0 lead.
Chris Panduri turned in the shutout in goal by stopping 10 Middletown North shots.
Shore faced Holmdel twice during the regular season and lost both games by a combined score of 10-2.
