Public Tournament, Sectional Quarterfinals

South, Group 4

(4) Southern 7, (5) Howell 2

Junior goalie Tyler Sininsky made 17 saves to lead a suffocating defensive performance as the Rams defeated the Rebels to advance to the sectional semifinals.

Junior midfielders Ryan Sininsky, Zach Washco and Jake Washco each scored twice and sophomore attackman Joey DeYoung scored once for Southern, which will play at top-seeded Montgomery at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Doug MacKenzie and James Fray scored for Howell while junior goalie Colin Fay made 10 saves.

 

North, Group 3

(1) Northern Highlands 6, (9) Middletown South 3

Luke Rohrmann scored twice, John Beyer scored once and Lucas Campos made four saves but the Eagles (11-4) fell short of their upset bid against the top-seeded Highlanders (10-6). After a scoreless first quarter, Northern Highlands scored four times in the second quarter to take a 4-1 halftime lead and held the advantage the rest of the way.

 

South, Group 3

(1) Ocean City 14, (8) Brick 3

 

(4) Clearview 14, (5) Colts Neck 6

Colts Neck and Clearview were tied 4-4 at halftime before the host Pioneers put together a huge second half to eliminate the Cougars and advance to the semifinals.

Sean Perkinson led Colts Neck with two goals while Mike Deissler and Peter Davi each had a goal and an assist. Tim Frost and Anastagio Muscara had one goal each and Thomas Halmi picked up 10 ground balls.

 

(3) Moorestown 12, (6) Brick Memorial 11

The Mustangs (14-5) trailed 8-4 at halftime and 10-7 entering the fourth quarter but their comeback bid fell just short in a road loss to the Quakers (4-12).

Senior midfielder Darren Romaine concluded his career with three goals and one assist, finishing with a school single-season record 56 goals and 104 points. Henry Lindquist also tallied three goals and one assist, Dan Aulisi and Luke Vojtko had a goal and an assist each and PJ Mazzeo made 11 saves. Rob Beshears, Chris Marks and Dylan Rinyak each scored once and Luke Ray won 16 of 27 faceoffs and picked up 15 ground balls to finish with a school single-season record 177 ground balls.

 

(2) Shawnee 11, (7) Jackson Memorial 1

 

South, Group 2

(1) Rumson-Fair Haven 18, (9) Holmdel 4

Senior attackman Luke Devlin sank seven goals with one assist and senior goalie Ryan Croddick made six saves as the top-seeded Bulldogs (18-0) rolled past the Hornets (8-7) and into the semifinals,

Sophomore attackman Cole Cashion continued his fantastic debut season with four goals and one assist and senior midfielder Patrick Jamin had another impactful game with three goals and two assists. Junior attackman Christian Bockelmann delivered two goals and four assists and junior midfielder Thomas French scored twice. Senior FOGO Tommy Swain was outstanding yet again in winning 17 of 21 face-offs.

Ryan Bradley scored twice and Andrew Arredondo made 15 saves to lead Holmdel. Kyle Kapcsos added a goal and two assists and Aidan Lagana scored once.

Rumson will host fourth-seeded Allentown on Saturday.

 

(2) Wall 13, (7) Robbinsville 5

Senior attackman Logan Peters scored four goals and added three assists and sophomore attackman John McCurry also scored four times as the Crimson Knights topped the Ravens to advance to the sectional semifinals for the second time in program history.

Junior midfielder Matt Dollive added two goals and two assists for Wall, which will host third-seeded Somerville in the semifinals on Saturday.

 

(3) Somerville 11, (6) Red Bank 8

The Bucs (10-7) held a 6-2 advantage at one point in the first half and led 6-4 at halftime, but the Pioneers (9-6) leaned on the near-perfect face-off work of Andrew Muller to rally to the victory and advance to the semifinals.

Muller won 21 of 23 draws for Somerville, which outscored Red Bank 7-2 in the second half and scored all three fourth-quarter goals. Michael Perrino had four goals and one assist to lead the offense.

Senior attackman Ryan McGee tallied three goals and two assists for Red Bank and senior goalie Gordon Odgen made 17 saves. Ryder Villani scored twice while Henry Spencer, Nick Weitz and Andrew Pape each scored once.

Somerville will play at second-seeded Wall on Saturday.

 

South, Group 1

(2) Manasquan 16, (7) Madison 2

 

(5) Shore 8, (4) Haddonfield 7

Junior attackman Carson Cooke scored three goals with one assist and junior midfielder Jamie Mazzacco scored twice as the Blue Devils (12-4) scored the only two goals of the fourth quarter to rally past the Bulldogs (12-3) and into the semifinals for the second straight season.

Freshman Sam Madalone netted the go-ahead goal late in the fourth quarter off a pass from Andrew Decker.

Senior FOGO Sean O'Brien won 11 of 18 faceoffs and sophomore goalie Walker Hunter made nine saves to earn the win. Madalone added a goal and two assists and Cory Moeller and Carson Spallone each scored once.

Shore will face top-seeded Bernards in the semifinals on Saturday.

 

Non-Public Tournament, First Round

Non-Public A

(7) CBA 18, (10) St. Joseph (Metuchen) 9

Senior attackman Ryan Howard scored five goals and senior attackman Dan Martin tallied four goals and three assists to power the Colts past the Falcons and into the state quarterfinals.

Nick Blalock added three goals and one assist and Brendan Donnelly had two goals and one assist.

CBA will play at second-seeded Seton Hall Prep in the quarterfinal round.
