Each week, Shore Sports Network recognizes the top performers in Shore Conference Baseball and gives the fans a chance to choose the best of the best. Below are the six Players of the Week in each of the six Shore Conference baseball divisions, plus four wild-card candidates. Read about their success from last week (April 10 though April 16) and vote for the player who stood out as the overall Player of the Week.

Vote once per hour in the poll at the bottom of this post until the poll closes Thursday at 10 p.m. The winner will be announced on Friday.

Class A North Player of the Week

Casey Gardiner, Colts Neck: Went 6-for-8 with a double, triple homer and five RBI in Colts Neck’s two wins last week over Marlboro and Manalapan.

Class A Central Player of the Week

Parker Shenman, Rumson-Fair Haven: On top of going 5-for-8 with a double, triple, homer and five RBI during a 3-0 week for Rumson, Shenman kept up his clutch contributions with a go-ahead two-run single in a 4-2 win over Holmdel – his second straight game delivering a game-winning RBI hit.

Mike McCormack, St. John Vianney: Turned in one of the most eye-popping offensive games of any Shore player this season, going 4-for-4 with a double, homer and nine RBI in a 14-0 win over then-unbeaten Neptune.

Mike Burke, Keansburg: Went 4-for-8 with a double and four RBI at the plate and earned a win in relief last week as the Titans swept rival Keyport.

Class B South Player of the Week

Joe Sclama, Manchester: Homered twice last week and both longballs came late in the game. The first was a tiebreaking three-run homer in the fifth inning of a 4-1 Manchester win over Point Boro and No. 2 was a two-run shot to put the Hawks up 5-2 on Barnegat in the seventh before the Bengals rallied to win in eight innings.

Wild Cards

C.J. Sears, Shore: Went a combined 6-for-8 with seven RBI Shore’s wins last week over Wall and Red Bank.

Hunter DelGuercio, CBA: Led a CBA scoring barrage during a 4-0 week by going 8-for-14 with a double, homer and eight RBI – most of which came during a tournament championship run in North Carolina.

Niko Diamantopoulos, Southern: In back-to-back wins over Toms River South, Diamantopoulos was 6-for-7 with two doubles a triple and six RBI as Southern piled up 25 runs in the two one-sided victories.

A.J. Gracia, Ranney: Closed out a 3-1 win over Manasquan with two scoreless innings, struck out seven and left the mound with the lead in his team’s Saturday loss to Delbarton and went 4-for-8 with a double, two homers and four RBI during a 2-1 week for the Shore’s No. 1 team.
