After heartbreaking losses to end each of the past two seasons, Marlboro's battle-tested, senior-led team finally won its first title, defeating Manasquan in Sunday's Shore Conference Tournament final.

Manasquan made St. John Vianney work for a half, but in the second, the Lady Lancers played like the state's best team and rolled to a third straight Shore Conference title.

After going down to the wire in last year's unofficial Shore Conference championship, Marlboro and Manasquan reunite for this year's Shore Conference Tournament championship game. And this time, it's official.

Following its worst offensive half of the season, Marlboro used its defense and rebounding to get going and race past CBA and into the SCT championship game.

Darius Adams had a career-best scoring effort at the best possible time and Manasquan upended No. 1 Red Bank Catholic to earn another trip to the Shore Conference Tournament final.

The Shore final four goes off in Toms River Thursday night, with two rivalry games on tap.

Manasquan erased some December demons by shutting down Red Bank Catholic and St. John Vianney continued its N.J. dominance to set up Sunday's championship game.

First, CBA was 10-0. Then, the Colts could not figure out how to win. After Sunday, they rediscovered their winning formula and reached the Shore Conference semifinals.

The Shore Conference Tournament is down to eight and that group will battle Sunday at Middletown South for the four spots in the SCT semifinals.

With another balanced two-way effort Thursday night vs. Ranney, Manasquan is headed to the Shore Conference quarterfinals for the 10th straight season.
