Senior Jack Hillermeier allowed one run over four innings and the Patriots (6-0, 5-0) gave him five runs in the first inning on the way to a win over the Green Wave (1-5, 0-3). Senior Patrick Burns finished 1-for-1 with two RBI in the first to key the Freehold Township bats.

Ocean 10, Holmdel 5

Junior Cord Birzin, junior Jack Zabarsky and sophomore George Krenkel each drove in two runs and the Spartans jumped out to an early lead on the Hornets and did not look back. Birzin highlighted Ocean's early offense with a two-run triple.

Senior Luke O'Hea crushed a grand slam to highlight a 10-run Raritan outburst and the Rockets (3-3, 2-1) slugged their way past the Blue Devils (2-3, 0-3).

 

No. 10 Rumson-Fair Haven 10, St. Rose 2 (8 Innings)

Senior Thomas Elgrim hit a tie-breaking two-run double to ignite a nine-run outburst by Rumson in the top of the eighth inning and the Bulldogs came alive late to beat the Purple Roses and snap a brief two-game skid.

Sophomore Owen Kenney and senior Andrew Schmid each added a two-run double of their own in the inning to put the game out of reach.

Senior Hank Hyduke gave Rumson a 1-0 lead in the top of the second with an RBI single before St. Rose junior Jack Lomerson answered with a solo home run in the bottom of the inning.

Junior right-hander Charlie Jones pitched into the eighth inning to earn his second win, striking out a career-high 11 in the process.

Matawan 11, Red Bank 1 (5 Innings)

Senior Tim Egan fanned eight during a five-inning four-hitter and the Huskies (5-1, 3-0) stormed to the finish line with seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to bury the Bucs (2-5, 1-3).

Egan (2-1) allowed one unearned run and walked four in bouncing back from his first loss of the season Saturday vs. Raritan.

Senior Eli Gries-Smith tripled home a run in the seven-run fifth, junior Jake Brigandi followed with an RBI single and senior Tyler Bull ended the game with a two-run single.

Senior Luke Elliot was 2-for-3 with two runs, an RBI and a stolen base while senior Dom Salot pitched in with a double and a pair of walks at the plate for Matawan.

 

Wall 14, Manasquan 6

Junior Andrew Fischer hit a go-ahead two-run single as part of a five-run fifth that propelled the Crimson Knights to a win over the Warriors.

Senior Sean McWalters and sophomore Cullen Condon each hit two-run singles in the top of the third, during which Manasquan scored five runs to tie the game at 6-6. Junior Ryan Deegan also singled home a run in the big Manasquan inning.

Sophomore Gabe Cavazzoni and junior Jerry Winchester each singled in a run in Wall's six-run second and senior Max Harrell added a two-run single in the rally.

Point Beach 13, Keansburg 0 (5 Innings)

Junior Andrew Banick went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs and two RBI and the Garnet Gulls (1-0, 1-0) handled the Titans (1-3, 0-2) in their long-awaited season-opener.

Senior Alec Glen also drove in two in a 1-for-2 day at the plate and junior Hunter Roselli drove in two runs and scored two without a hit. Senior Hunter Alia was 1-for-3 with two runs and junior Colin Matuschat finished 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI in the win.

Senior Matt Van Brunt struck out five over two innings with one hit and no walks to pick up the opening-day win. Junior Guiseppe Taurozzi struck out four in two scoreless frames and sophomore Jackson Killian closed it out with a scoreless fifth.

Senior Rian Rivera went 2-for-3 with a double to lead Keansburg

 

Ranney 21, Henry Hudson 0 (5 Innings)

Three Ranney pitchers combined on a no-hitter and five of its hitters hit a home run as the Panthers (4-2, 3-0) handled the Admirals (2-3, 2-1).

Sophomore Marcello Mastroianni struck out seven over the first three innings and sophomore Jack Renaud and freshman Greyson Testino each struck out the side to finish off the five-inning no-hitter.

Sophomore Duke commit A.J. Gracia highlighted the home run parade with his first career home run, while Renaud, sophomore Brett Wehringer and junior Lou Spadafora each belted their first career homers as well. Sophomore Logan Semevolos, meanwhile, cracked his second home run of the season.

 

Non-Division

Brick Memorial 4, Lacey 3

Junior Jack Flood ignited a three-run fourth inning with a two-run single and senior Cole Manfro came through with a go-ahead RBI single in the top of the fifth to deliver the Mustangs a come-from-behind win over the Lions.

No. 8 Howell 2, Brick 1

Senior Vin Impresa hit a tie-breaking RBI triple with two out in the top of the seventh inning and the Rebels beat the Green Dragons behind a combined four-hitter by six different Howell pitchers.

Senior Chris Ellison sparked both Howell scoring innings, beginning with a triple in the second before scoring on an RBI single by senior Ryan Behnken. Ellison later reached on a two-out error in the seventh to set up Impresa - who started the game and pitched one inning - for the game-winning three-bagger.

After taking the loss Thursday against Middletown North in his first outing of the season, junior Nick Gomes bounced back by striking out the side in order in the bottom of the seventh to lock down the save.
