Girls Basketball Week 4 Fan Player of the Week: Sayuri Penaranda

Girls Basketball Week 4 Player of the Week voted by the fans and presented by Thrive Spine and Sports Rehab.

Sayuri Penaranda, Freehold Boro

Penaranda posted her fifth double-double of the season and averaged 17.3 points a game last week, with two games coming against teams ranked in the Shore 16 to be voted by the fans player of the week.

Penaranda opened the week with a double-double against No. 15 Point Boro, scoring a season-high 22 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. In a victory against Keansburg she scored 14 points and grabbed 5 rebounds and also had 2 steals.

Penaranda finished the weekwith similar stats from the Keansburg game. She scored 16 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and had 2 steals against No. 11 Ranney.

Penaranda collected 38.1 percent of the votes casted for the Week 4 fan voted Player of the Week award. Southern Regional’s Skylar Soltis finished in second with 21 percent of the vote and Holmdel’s Mackenzie Teevan finished in third with 19.7 percent of the vote.

Each fan voted Player of the Week will receive one recovery session at Thrive Spine and Sports Rehab.
