Girls Basketball – Shore Sports Network Games of the Week 1/2 to 1/6
Shore Sports Network Games of the Week 1/2/24 to 1/6/24
No. 7 Wall at No. 12 Manchester; 5 p.m.
Can Wall continue to show they belong with the Shore Conference best and erase from their heads the tough loss to Red Bank Regional in the WOBM final. Manchester went 1-2 in the WOBM and is still looking for a win against a Top 10 team this season.
No. 8 Rumson-Fair Haven at No. 7 St. Rose; 5:30 p.m.
Both teams enter the contest 5-2 on the season and have been ranked in the top ten the first three weeks. Last season St. Rose built a large lead, but Rumson battled back and fell just short.
No. 14 Howell at No. 13 Point Pleasant Boro; 5:15 p.m.
These two teams have only played once in recent years with Point Boro edging out Howell. Both teams are evenly matched with their guard play and frontcourt. The match-up of Howell’s Kiera McKown and Point Boro’s Katherine Henn will be fun to watch.
No. 2 Red Bank Catholic at No. 4 Ocean Township; 5:30 p.m.
A battle of two top five teams to start the new year. Last year Ocean gave the young RBC team a run for their money in the Shore Conference Tournament quarterfinals. It will be a battle between Ocean's veterans and RBC’s youngsters.
Toms River South at Central Regional; 6:30 p.m.
A rematch of the WOBM Christmas Classic Kathy Snyder bracket final where Central had the upper hand to win the trophy. Can TRS regroup and get even with Central?
No. 10 Holmdel at No. 11 Ranney; 4:30 p.m.
Both teams went 1-1 in the Holmdel Holiday Showcase and both lost to St. Thomas Aquinas. This game has interesting match-ups with Holmdel’s Allison Cannon and Ranney’s Haley Poser in the backcourt and in the frontcourt Holmdel’s Mackenzie Teevan going against Ranney’s Ashley Kreiger.
No. 7 Wall at No. 4 Ocean Township; 11:30 p.m.
Ocean has a tough week starting with RBC and ending with St. Rose, but they can not overlook Wall. Wall will want to continue to prove they belong with the best and this can be a statement game for them.
