The Basketball Player of the Week has been a staple of Shore Sports Network's coverage over the years and we have always left it up to the fans to decide the winner -- and still do. Now, SSN is recognizing its own choices for Player of the Week, not just in the Shore Conference, but in Monmouth and Ocean Counties individually.

Shore Conference Week 5 Player of the Week Presented by Surf Taco

Leomary Diaz-Merino, Long Branch

Diaz-Merino has been one of the most consistent players on the offensive end in the Shore Conference all season, scoring double-digits in every game but one on the season. Last week she averaged 17.5 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 2.5 steals and her performance earned her the Shore Conference Player of the Week.

She opened the week scoring a game-high 22 points against Point Pleasant Boro, who is ranked No. 15 in the Shore 16. Diaz-Merino shot 10 out of 12 from the foul-line and grabbed 5 rebounds in a seven point defeat.

Against Freehold Township she knocked down three 3-pointers and finished with 13 points. Diaz-Merino grabbed 7 rebounds and had 6 assists in the non-divisional game. She also finished with a team-high three steals in the game.

Each Shore Conference Player of the Week will receive a gift card courtesy of Surf Taco.
