Holmdel 10, No. 10 Shore 7

Sophomore Nick Rakoski broke a 7-7 tie with a two-run double in the top of the seventh inning and the Hornets held on to win a back-and-forth game against the Blue Devils.

Sophomore Matt Iulo followed his classmate's two-run double with another RBI double to cap the scoring and give senior Elliot Chun an extra insurance run before Chun closed out his three innings of work with a scoreless seventh inning.

Holmdel exploded for seven runs in the top of the first inning, with Iulo hitting two doubles and driving in three in the first frame alone. Chun and senior Brendan Cieplensky each added an RBI single in the rally and Rakoski picked up the first of his three RBI with a bases-loaded walk.

Shore stormed back to tie the game thanks to a six-run fourth inning, highlighted by a three-run inside-the-park home run by senior Lucas Rosa that made the score 7-6. Senior Jeff Barham also hit a two-run single in the inning and junior E.J. Stefanelli tied the game with a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth.
