Ocean County Tournament
Quarterfinals
(1) Jackson Memorial 9, (8) Manchester 2
Nick Mellino hit a game-tying RBI double in the second and a go-ahead RBI double in a five-run Jackson Memorial fifth to spark the Jaguars to nine unanswered runs and a quarterfinal win over the Hawks.
Charlie Meglio capped the five-run fourth with his eighth home run of the season -- a three-run shot that extended the Jackson Memorial lead to 7-2.
Right-hander Collin McCarron settled in on the mound after Joe Bentivenga took him deep for a two-run homer in the top of the first, completing six innings before passing the ball off to Tommy Mazzella to close it out.
Jackson Memorial got a run back in the bottom of the first when Julian Caruso smoked a leadoff triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Matt Koblos.
For the second time this season Friday, Southern will pay a visit to Jackson Memorial, this time with a spot in the OCT final on the line. Jackson Memorial beat Southern, 4-3, in 10 innings on April 25, with the game ending on a bases-loaded walk by Aidan O'Donnell with two out.

(3) Brick Memorial 7, (6) Lacey 6
Joe Cordi ripped a game-winning, two-run single to leftfield with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning and the Mustangs walked off with their seventh win in a row -- this one an OCT quarterfinal win over the Lions that sets up a semifinal date with Donovan Catholic on Friday.
Lacey took the lead in the top of the seventh inning on a hit-and-run executed with Connor Bragg at the plate and Rylan Messina starting the play at first base. Bragg lined a single into right field, where it skipped past a charging Devante Noriega, allowing Messina to chug all the way home with the go-head run. Noriega quickly atoned for the error by throwing out Bragg at the plate on an attempted tag-up, which ended the winning with Lacey still up 6-5.
In the bottom of the seventh, senior Nick Garbooshian reached on a throwing error that one out that went out of play and advanced him to second. Pinch-runner Billy Caruso took over for Garbooshian and freshman Tyler Garbooshian was then hit with a pitch to put the tying run aboard.
Lacey right-hander Jack Sramaty came through with a strikeout for the second out, but Brick Memorial put the pressure on with a double-steal that moved both the tying and winning runs into scoring position.
With a 2-0 count, Cordi lined a breaking ball into left and Garbooshian scored without a play at the plate to secure Brick Memorial's seventh straight win.

Brady Lesiak singled home the game's first run in the bottom of the first and closed it out on the mound with a two-inning save as the Rams slipped past the Garnet Gulls and into the OCT semifinals Friday, when Southern will travel to play top-seeded Jackson Memorial.
Point Beach tied the game in the top of the fourth, when catcher Nate Clayton singled and scored on a wild pitch with two out. Southern responded in the bottom of the inning with a go-ahead sacrifice fly by Niko Diamantopoulos.
Tyler McLeod fired a perfect fifth inning with two strikeouts to bridge the gap between winning pitcher Steve Miller and Lesiak. James Larsen, meanwhile, notched a complete game for Point beach in taking the loss.

(2) Donovan Catholic 5, (7) Central 3
Gavin Degnen hammered a game-winning three-run home run with none out in the bottom of the seventh and the Griffins pulled out a walk-off win over the Golden Eagles in a game heavy on homers.
Central shortstop Dom Masino hit the second of his two go-ahead solo homers to give the Golden Eagles a 3-2 lead in the top of the seventh inning. His counterpart, Joe Maier, led off the Donovan Catholic seventh with a walk, stole second base and moved to third on a bunt single by teammate Anthony Mursko to put runners on the corners with no one out.
On the first pitch he saw, Degnan launched a long fly ball to center that sailed well beyond the fence and set off a spirited celebration by the Griffins, who will host Brick Memorial on Friday in the tournament semifinals.
Masino hit his first homer to open the scoring in the top of the third and Maier answered with a solo shot in the bottom of the inning. Donovan Catholic took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single by Maier before Trevor Policastro tied it up, 2-2, with a solo homer in the top of the sixth.
