Builders’ General Shore Conference Baseball Tuesday Scoreboard, 4/11/23

Class A North
Colts Neck 11, No. 6 Marlboro 5
Junior Casey Gardiner keyed three scoring rallies and the Cougars out-sluggled the Mustangs to pick up their first win of the season.
Gardiner doubled to lead off a three-run second and came around to score on an RBI single by classmate Chris Scully that opened the scoring. He then belted a solo home run to extend the lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the third and in the bottom of the fourth, Gardiner ripped a tiebreaking, two-run single during Colts Neck's three-run inning that gave the Cougars a 7-4 lead.
Junior Michael Consolazio got Marlboro on the board with a two-run home run to dead centerfield, cutting the deficit to 4-2 and igniting a game-tying, four-run rally in the top of the fourth.

No. 7 Middletown South 4, Middletown North 1
Junior Lou D'Alession cracked a two-run home run to open the scoring in a four-run first inning and senior right-hander Ben Schild led a sharp pitching effort that helped the Eagles end a three-game skid with a win over the rival Lions.
Junior Jake Czwakiel gave up an RBI single to Middletown North catcher Mike Hallard to allow the lone run charged to Schild to score, then pitched a scoreless seventh inning to pick up the save.
Middletown South gave its pitching tandem all the help in needed in the first inning, with D'Alessio crushing a 2-0 pitch over the leftfield fence after senior Danny Corcoran led off the inning with a walk. Junior Brevin Bezick and Schild followed with back-to-back singles, the third run scored on an error and courtesy runner Brendan Roche capped the rally in style with a straight steal of home with two out.
Schild took the loss Saturday in Middletown South's 3-2 defeat at Allentown, with the Redbirds scoring a pair of unearned runs off the UConn-bound right-hander while also taking advantage of a pair of walks by Schild.
After opening his junior season in 2022 with a no-hitter on opening day, then skipping a turn in the rotation with arm fatigue, Schild has taking a gradual approach to the start of his senior season. He threw three innings in the season-opener, then pitched one inning of relief six days later. After two days of rest, Schild threw 97 pitches in Tuesday's win.
All three losses in Middletown South's losing streak -- 7-6 to Freehold Township and 3-2 to both Middletown North and Allentown -- were by one-run margins.

Sophomore Parker Shenman delivered his second game-winning hit in the last two games, this time flipping a go-ahead, two-run single into centerfield in the bottom of the sixth to give the Bulldogs another hard-fought win over the Hornets.
After Shenman made the score 3-2 with his two-RBI hit, senior Owen Kenney followed with an RBI fielder's choice to extend Rumson's advantage. Senior right-hander Jackson Hinchcliffe then pitched a scoreless seventh inning to polish off the complete game victory.
Holmdel jumped in front on a two-run home run by sophomore Matt Iulo in the top of the fourth.

No. 1 Ranney 3, Manasquan 1
Lou Spadafora belted a game-tying home run in the bottom of the fourth and seniors Jack Tallent and A.J. Gracia each contributed an RBI double over the following two innings as the Panthers rallied to beat the Warriors and remain undefeated.
Manasquan jumped on top thanks to a leadoff home run by senior Brett Patten on the first batter of the game. From there, fifth-year senior Nick Coniglio limited Manasquan to just one hit and no runs while completing five innings of work.
Spadafora tied the game with his solo blast, the lone run surrendered by Manasquan senior ace Cullen Condon, who stretched his pitch count to 83 after throwing 54 over three innings in Manasquan's season-opener vs. St. John Vianney.
In the bottom of the fifth, Tallent positioned Coniglio for the win by smacking a go-ahead RBI double. Gracia then took over on the mound in the top of the sixth, then supplied himself with an insurance run by doubling home Ranney's third run in the bottom of the sixth.
Gracia completed the two-inning save in the seventh to extend Ranney's season-opening winning streak to five.
