Manalapan 6, Colts Neck 5 (8 Innings)

Senior Christian D'Angelo draw a four-pitch walk with the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth inning and the Braves pulled out an extra-inning win over the Cougars.

Junior Chris Liegi pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the eighth inning to earn the win.

Colts Neck tied the game in the top of the seventh on a sacrifice fly by senior Ryan Tan.

Senior Jack Mocik hit a solo home run to jumpstart a five-run fifth inning and the Colts rode another strong all-around performance to a win over the Eagles, extending their season-opening winning streak to seven.

Sophomore catcher Danny Tsimbinos delivered a two-run single in the fifth and senior Zaine Toneske added a solo homer of his own in the top of the seventh.

Mocik also scored the game's first run when he singled off Middletown South starter Ben Schild, moved to second on an errant pickoff throw and scored on an RBI single by senior Matt DiFeo.

Schild and standout CBA junior Chris Levonas squared off in a high-level pitching matchup and combined to give up zero earned run, although neither recorded an out in the fifth inning. Schild was pulled after completing the fourth, while Levonas turned the ball over to senior Nick Harnisch after allowing a leadoff single to senior Matt Sliva to lead off the fifth.

Senior Frank Scrivanic went 4-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI while classmate Shane Andrus homered and drove in three as the Caseys bats backed senior right-hander Dom Mallamaci in a win over the Rockets.

 

Monmouth 9, No. 3 Rumson-Fair Haven 8

Starting pitcher Christian Zito hit a game-tying, bases-clearing triple in the bottom of the fifth and senior Joey Esposito followed with a go-ahead RBI single as the Falcons bounced back from a five-run Rumson fifth with a four-run fifth of their own to salvage a regular-season sweep with the Bulldogs.

Senior Owen Kenney hit a two-run triple to tied the game at 4-4 and senior Brayden Dill followed with a two-run double to vault Rumson into the lead. Senior Spencer Hobson, who homered earlier in the game, tacked on a fifth run in the inning with another RBI double for Rumson.

Junior Mike Milevoi supplied the early offense for Monmouth with an RBI double and a solo home run.

Junior T.J. Legere capped a four-RBI game with a tiebreaking two-run single with two out in the bottom of the sixth and the Crimson Knights paid back the Blue Devils after Shore beat Wall with a big sixth inning on Thursday.

Legere also delivered a two-run single in Wall's three-run first, which answered three runs by Shore in the top of the first. Legere's two-run single tied the game after senior Jake Howlett got Wall on the board with an RBI single -- the first of his three hits in a perfect game at the plate.

Senior Gabe Cavazzoni gave Wall a 4-3 lead with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth.

Senior Jeff Barham tied the game with an RBI single in the top of the fifth. Barham also singled home a run in Shore's three-run first inning.

Sophomore Mike Kaczynski came through with the tiebreaking RBI double in the top of the fifth and the Rams survived an extra-inning battle with the Mustangs after suffering their first loss of the season Friday vs. Brick Memorial in extra innings.

After junior Brady Lesiak pitched eight innings and knocked in the first two Southern runs with a game-tying two-run single in the top of the sixth, senior Steven Miller closed out the win with a scoreless ninth, ending the game with a strikeout to strand the tying run on third base.
