Senior Brett Wehringer singled home a run in Ranney's five-run first and two in the seven-run third to highlight a Panthers rout of the Eagles.

Ranney moves on to face one of three teams in the Monmouth County Tournament semifinals -- the program's first ever trip to the final four of the county tournament. St. Rose is scheduled to play at Rumson-Fair Haven in the MCT round of 16 on Saturday, with the winner taking on Manasquan in the quarterfinals. The team that emerges from that trio will take on Ranney with a spot in the championship game on the line.

Junior Jake Howlett led off the bottom of the ninth with a game-winning solo home run to left field and the Crimson Knights walked off with a round-of-16 win over the Patriots. Wall advances to play No. 2 Red Bank Catholic in the round of 16, scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m., weather permitting.

Wall took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth when junior Mike Horowitz led off with a double before pinch-runner Mason Adam scored on an infield single by junior Jon Cofone.

Freehold Township drew even in the top of the seventh, with sophomore Jon Boylan leading off with a single and scoring on a two-out error.
