We're almost at the finish line of the 2022 boys lacrosse season. It feels like practices were just getting started back in early March, but here we are with only a few weeks left before we crown the final Tournament of Champions winner.

The Shore Conference Tournament Final Four is set with Rumson-Fair Haven hosting Christian Brothers Academy and Wall taking on rival Manasquan on Saturday morning. The championship game will be played on Monday at Monmouth University.

The NJSIAA Tournament cutoff is also on Saturday with the tournament scheduled to be seeded on Monday. The first round of the public sectional tournaments begins on Wednesday, May 18 and the non-public tournament will get started on Saturday, May 21.

Brielle Orthopedics Shore Conference Boys Lacrosse Top 10

1. Rumson-Fair Haven (14-4). Last week: No. 1

The Bulldogs suffered an 11-10 overtime loss to St. Augustine in a state-ranked matchup and then clinched the Class B North division title with a win over Ocean. Rumson rolled into the SCT semifinals with dominant wins over Brick Memorial (17-2) and No. 8 Red Bank (15-2). The Bulldogs will host No. 4 CBA on Saturday in the SCT semifinals.

2. Manasquan (13-3). Last week: No. 2

After absorbing a 13-5 loss to Pingry in a game between state top-20 teams, Manasquan rebounded with a win over Barnegat to clinch the Class B South division title and then defeated St. Rose (17-2) and No. 7 Howell (20-5) to get back to the SCT semifinals. Manasquan will host No. 3 Wall on Saturday in the SCT semifinals. Manasquan won the regular-season meeting, 9-6.

3. Wall (14-2). Last week: No. 3

The Crimson Knights suffered just their second loss of the season when they fell to Westfield, 9-5, in a meeting of state-ranked teams. Wall answered back with a pair of SCT wins over Point Boro (17-0) and No. 6 Shore (8-3) to return to the SCT semifinals for the second year in a row. Wall's other loss this season is to archrival Manasquan, and the Knights get their shot at redemption on Saturday in the SCT semifinals.

4. Christian Brothers Academy (11-6). Last week: No. 6

The Colts move up two spots after defeating No. 5 Southern, 8-3, in the Shore Conference Tournament quarterfinals. Southern was ranked No. 4 last week. CBA also won 16-1 over Manalapan and 9-6 over No. 7 Howell to clinch the Class A North division title. They beat Manalapan again by a score of 14-5 in the first round of the SCT. CBA will take its shot at No. 1 Rumson in the SCT semifinals on Saturday morning.

5. Southern (12-2). Last week: No. 4

The Rams drop one spot after an 8-3 loss to CBA in the Shore Conference Tournament quarterfinals. Southern did continue its dominance in Class A South, however, with wins over Toms River East (23-3) and Toms River North (18-4) to clinch their ninth straight division title and extend their Class A South winning streak to 63 games. Southern also defeated Jackson Memorial, 15-2, in the first round of the SCT. The Rams have a game with Shawnee scheduled for Monday and will then turn their attention to defending their NJSIAA South Group 4 sectional title.

6. Shore (10-3). Last week: No. 5

The Blue Devils move down one spot because of Southern's loss to CBA and the fact that the Rams have a win over Shore this season. Wins over Jackson Memorial (15-6) and Red Bank Catholic (twice, 12-10 and 13-3) precluded an 8-3 loss to No. 3 Wall in the SCT quarterfinals. Shore has never won a state sectional title in boys lacrosse but is among the favorites in South Group 1 this season.

7. Howell (12-5). Last week: No. 7

It was an up and down week for the Rebels, who went 1-2 but hold their spot since those losses were to teams ranked in the top five. They shook off a 9-6 defeat to No. 4 CBA in the Class A North title game to defeat division rival Middletown South, 8-7, in the first round of the Shore Conference Tournament. Howell was eliminated from the SCT via a 20-5 loss to No. 2 Manasquan in the quarterfinals. Howell will play Scotch Plains-Fanwood on Saturday before the South Group 4 state playoffs begin on Wednesday,

8. Red Bank (9-6). Last week: No. 9

After trading spots with Holmdel last week, the Bucs get their spot right back thanks to a thrilling 8-7 overtime win in the first round of the Shore Conference Tournament. Matt Lynch's game-winner as time expired in the first overtime period enabled Red Bank to exact revenge after a 9-8 loss to Holmdel the week prior. RBR went 4-1 with wins over St. John Vianney (18-9), Princeton (14-13), Neptune (18-3), and Holmdel (8-7 OT) before falling to No. 1 Rumson (15-2) in the SCT quarterfinals. Next up for the Bucs is the North Group 3 state playoffs.

9. Middletown South (9-5). Last week: No. 10

The Eagles went 1-1 with a 14-0 win over Long Branch and an 8-7 loss to Howell in the first round of the Shore Conference Tournament. Middletown South is aligned in the North Group 3 section for next week's NJSIAA Tournament.

10. Holmdel (12-6). Last week: No. 8

The Hornets drop two spots but hold onto a position in the Top 10 thanks to their continued strong play. It was a 4-1 week altogether with the only blemish being an 8-7 overtime loss to No. 8 Red Bank in the first round of the SCT. Holmdel posted wins over Donovan Catholic (19-6), Neptune (13-0), Manalapan (16-3), and Freehold Township (15-3). The Hornets will await their seed for the South Group 2 state playoffs.

Dropped out: none

Keep an eye on:

Red Bank Catholic (11-6): The Caseys posted a 16-3 win over Marlboro before consecutive losses to No. 6 Shore - a 12-10 setback in the regular season and a 13-3 loss in the Shore Conference Tournament. RBC has a pair of tune-up games before the state tournament, taking on Old Bridge today and then St. Joseph (Metuchen) on Tuesday.
