Class A North Player of the Week

Mike Steinberg, Marlboro

Marlboro stayed red-hot last week with wins over CBA, Howell and Wall and Steinberg scored a goal in all three one-goal wins. He scored early in the Mustangs’ 1-0 win over CBA, scored the winner in a 2-1 win over Howell and converted in the second half of a 1-0 win over Wall on Saturday to increase his season goal total to eight.

Class A North Honorable Mention: Isaac Ball, Freehold Boro; Matt Glynn, Middletown South; Patrick O’Dwyer, Long Branch; Bennett Messinger, Freehold Twp.; Ethan Schlesinger, Marlboro

Class A Central Player of the Week

Jack Giamanco, Holmdel

Defenses are fully geared-up to stop Giamanco this year and it hasn’t made much of a difference. The Hornets striker had another big week last week, scoring two goals apiece in wins over Monmouth (3-1) and Rumson-Fair Haven (2-1), the latter of which was a come-from-behind victory. Giamanco capped the week by setting up Mark Walier’s goal in a 1-0 win over Toms River South – a win that improved Holmdel to 9-0 on the season.

Class A Central Honorable Mention: Mark Walier, Holmdel; Alec Pentikis, Rumson-Fair Haven; Connor Smith, Raritan; Drew Greenblatt, Manasquan; Mason Martelloni, Monmouth; Joe Seber, Raritan; Andrew Singleton, Rumson-Fair Haven; Anthony Muniz, Red Bank Catholic; Luke Pentikis, Rumson-Fair Haven

Class A South Player of the Week

Kevin Kiernan, Southern

Southern was dominant last week, going 3-0 and outscoring its three opponents 12-1. Kiernan accounting for seven of those goals, including hat tricks against Atlantic Tech and Long Branch. In Saturday’s win over the Green Wave, Kieran erupted for three goals in the second half to lead Rams to a 3-0 win.

Class A South Honorable Mention: Mario Addiego, Southern; Drew Walenty, Jackson Memorial; Chase Olejarz, Jackson Memorial; Ali Baish, Toms River North; Jack Fanning, Brick Memorial; Jake Baurerband, Toms River North; Jaisel Zamora, Brick Memorial

Class B North Player of the Week

Eli Brandimarte, Ocean

Brandimarte has been Captain Clutch for Ocean and last week was as good an example as any. He scored the game-winner late in the second half of the Spartans’ 1-0 win over Red Bank and added another goal on Saturday, when he scored with two seconds left in regulation to send Ocean’s game vs. Rumson-Fair Haven to overtime.

Class B North Honorable Mention: John Farfan, Colts Neck; Jake Gershon, Colts Neck; Marco Medel, Matawan; Aidan Tisony, Ocean

Class B Central Player of the Week

Thomas Boyan, Ranney

The Panthers picked up a pair of wins last week and Boyan notched a goal in each. The sophomore was part of an eight-goal onslaught against Henry Hudson and later scored the game-winning goal in the second half of a 2-1 win over St. Rose.

Class B Central Honorable Mention: Charles Anyichie, Ranney; Jean Salomon, Asbury Park; Woodley Cagilus, Asbury Park; Chefeston Simeus, Asbury Park; Luke Zylinski, Point Beach; Zach O’Neal, Mater Dei

Class B South Player of the Week

Sean Moffitt, Lacey

Coming off an 18-goal junior season, Moffit showed he still has the same scoring touch as a senior. He scored three of Lacey’s four goals during the week, including two in a 2-1 win over Donovan Catholic and the game-winner in a 2-0 win over Central.

Class B South Honorable Mention: Matt White, Barnegat; Johnny Hart, Pinelands; Logan Duffy, Manchester

Wild Cards

Mason Martelloni, Monmouth

Martelloni has been a breakout goal-scorer for Monmouth and even when Holmdel kept him under control in its showdown with the Falcons, the senior made his presence felt. Martelloni assisted Monmouth’s lone goal in a 3-1 loss to Holmdel, then came back with an equalizer and a golden goal in a 3-2 overtime win over Raritan. He capped the week with a goal in a 5-0 rout of St. Rose on Saturday.

Jake Gershon, Colts Neck

The Cougars continued a fast start to the season last week and Gershon was in the middle of most of the action for Colts Neck. The senior scored a goal and assisted another in a 5-0 win over Neptune and ripped home two goals in another 5-0 to cap the week – this one over St. John Vianney.
