Quarterfinals
(1) Jackson Liberty 7, (8) Lacey 2
Shane Hickey homered and drove in two runs and Daniel Sofield hit a tie-breaking RBI single as part of a five-run sixth inning the propelled the Lions to a win over the Lacey after losing to their B South rivals earlier in the week.
Sofield finished 3-for-3 with a double and also tied the game with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning after Hickey belted a solo home run to cut the Lacey lead to 2-1. Hickey finished 2-for-4 and also scored two runs.
Scott Wierciszewski started the five-run sixth with a double and scored on Sofield's third hit. Rich Dordas doubled home two runs, Hickey singled home a run and Charlie Rudderow capped the scoring with one last RBI single.
Connor Keenan and Dordas each finished 2-for-4 with a double. Matt Pickus allowed two earned runs on four hits while walking none and striking out six in the win.
Miles Feaster went 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI while James Roselli also went 1-for-3 with an RBI for Lacey.
Evan Wallis took the loss, throwing 90 pitches over 5 2/3 innings.
Jackson Liberty will host fifth-seeded Toms River East on Saturday in one of the two OCT semifinal games.
