Regular-Season Series

Rumson-Fair Haven owns the edge going into the game, having defeated Red Bank Catholic, 3-1, on May 8 in a game that went 10 innings. Junior Charlie Jones pitched six strong innings to match RBC ace Shane Panzini and sophomore John Goodes pitched three hitless innings to pick up the win. Junior Brian Doherty had the big hit - a tie-breaking two-run single in the top of the 10th inning.

Neither pitcher will be available Friday after both threw more than 50 pitches in Wednesday's 14-10 win at Manalapan.

The two teams played a second time on May 28 and were tied, 5-5, when rain stopped the game at the end of the fifth inning. The game was called, resulting in the only tie in the Shore Conference this season.

Championship History

Red Bank Catholic: Red Bank Catholic has been to five Monmouth County Tournament championship games since 2012 and won three of them. The Caseys won their first by beating Wall in 2013 and won back-to-back championships in 2017 and 2018. Since 2013, only two teams - RBC and Christian Brothers Academy - have won the Monmouth County Tournament and with a win on Friday, RBC would match CBA with four championships during that stretch.

Rumson-Fair Haven: Rumson's championship history is decidedly shorter than that of Red Bank Catholic. The Bulldogs have never won a Monmouth County Tournament championship and the only championship appearance they have ever made was in 1985, when it was the Monmouth College Tournament.
